Rick still running the 43 Scarab?
|
Yes, but he didn't bring it out last year. He changed jobs and is traveling a lot. Hopefully he will be out this year.
We should be getting Barry's 43' Nor-Tech back in the water next week. Once we get it out of his driveway we can start working on mine. :\ |
How many performance boats are there on lake lewisville,,,and where do most of them dock or launch at,,,pier121???
|
There are 6-10, depending on what you consider "performance" boats. :) Probably a few more on big weekends.
Yes, I would say most are at Pier 121 or launch from there. There are a few that come out of Eagle Point and Lakeview. |

My buddy has a 40' Skater we are redoing that will be on Lewisville. It used to be "Scaredy Cat" and then was painted all silver. Getting new paint, windshield, and completely reworked motors right now.

What power does that 43 have in it?
|
There was a silver cat out a few times late last year, bad ass boat.
Chris, the 43 has 850 hp a side |

Yes, although he didn't get it out very often last summer. Hopefully he will this summer. Heck, hopefully we will both be out all summer long! That would be a nice change of pace. :)

All you Texoma boaters still floating up there? I see the lake is 7ft above pool.
From Texoma to Conroe the lakes are full. |
only took 6 years to do so and the rain around here is getting old to.
1 extreme to other - would like some middle ground for the area year after year. .Not drought and then flooding - Jeepers |
I'm at Highport, it is already flooding. Lake level is 625.34 the Corps of Engineers projects 630 by Friday. The Island bar at Highport starts flooding at 628ish and that's when Oncor cuts our power. I heard they already cut power to Grandpappy's. With the rain forcasted I think it could hit 640 and go over the top again real soon.

The funny {or not so funny} part is Highport spent all winter cutting our dock in 2 and moving us to deeper water. |
don't know why it came out sideways but oh well.
|
Saw that @ highport Saturday. As already mentioned, one extreme to the other. Hope it's not to trashy by Memorial Day to enjoy the lake.
|
anddddd we are pouring again. Yes we needed the rain but with the with the lighting , hail, flooding and so on this is at the point now were it has caused a lot damage. Take a look at the next 10 day forecast really is depressing, Jeepers more rain
|
Grapevine & lewisville both 7ft over full pool, Ray Roberts is over full pull and is now dumping into Lewisville and Lewisville dumping 25k gallons a minute into the trinity. Residents around Ray Roberts are being told to prepare to leave if gates are to be fully opened due to extreme flooding. With water levels coming up so high it has to be a mess on the water with all the debri floating around now!
A lot more coming !!! |

Picture of the Island bar at Highport this morning. Lake is at 630.5 and going up should top the dam by weds. |
And have you seen how much crap, wood, branches, grass, weeds and litter is in the water. Ray Roberts is bad with the crap, it looks like someone dump millions of junk in the lake. Not good for boating and the cooling side for boat engines. The wakeboard boats with the intake grate on the bottom of the hull are going to suffer with cooling problems until the lakes clean up. Not good for skiing or wakeboarding with al the junk in lakes either.
|
Too bad they can't direct that water to the hill country lakes.
I know all of you up there have to be sick of the rain. I spoke to a friend that lives close to Ray Roberts, he said the lake is basically closed down. |
BUP it's full of debris. My boat will stay on the lift till it clears up. I use to do a lot of boating on the Ohio river amazing the debris after storms. The scary part is the stuff you don't see floating 4" under the surface.
|
The hula hut will be a drive up bar like pier 121 with about 2'more water .
the last big lake lewy overflow around 08 or so they had dumpsters out behind my house to scoop up all the crap that washed up from the lake |
this is what really sucks for boaters and myself, I have boats that need to be picked but can't cause a few local storages are closed to anyone coming in or out with a boat until the 3 ft of mud dries up. They said everyone gets stuck. Next no one wants to bring a nice boat out because of all the hail warnings 4 to 5 days a week. Jeepers we can not win around here with the boating.
You should see the crap under these boats on lifts at the lake houses. I can not even run most of these boats more or less lower them down in the water. Way to much crap in the water. I am at a complete stand still and everyone wants to go boating this coming up holiday. |
This sucks. We ll see what it looks like next Saturday. May be launching in the parking lot.
|
Ya Chris, + 14.15, less than 8 feet to tie the record and go over the spillway (4th time since 1944). The CRAZY thing is the gates are STILL closed, runoff is still rolling down the river and more rain all weekend. If I owned Island Bar I'd be like WTF Chuck, open the gates already yo.
|
If I'm free this Sunday you may see the yellow monster come out and play. I'll be "that guy" on the news:drink:
TxHawk ~ you feeling this one? :boat: |
I've got some cool pix from the last couple of days. One of the Willis bridge with burnt orange water all the way up to the trusses. A couple of the Islands completely submerged that also shows the orange water in the river channel all the way up to North Island. I've NEVER seen Red river water that far down the lake. Theoretically there's no current to drag it along, as mentioned above the gates are closed. Discharge is like 19 cubes a second running thru the generators.
|
Postem up on the PBN.
|
I did. They're buried in the TBM Refugee thread. Shoot your digits again and I'll send them to ya. I thought I had your number.

Sure is terrible what is going on at Texoma. I had a trip planned for june 12th weekend, looks like i will probably be canceling that. Texoma can not let out water because Shreveport, LA is almost flooding now. Shreveport can't and wont take any of texoma's red river over flow.
|
I was up there today, we were going to troubleshoot a few issues. We didn't realize how far above full the lake was. Highport parking lot was under water. They had a ferry service to the docks for the people with the cruisers. We opted to not take a chance with debris in those waters.
Memorial Day is going to be interesting for those that plan on getting on the water. |
Last turd floater on lewy didnt peak until around 4th july weekend . 2 boats tied to the railing at the pool at sneakypetes that weekend . Only one ramp was open . Most marinas were closed due to acess points being underwater and power was cut to many of them
the time before that in the '90's they left the ramps open and i remember just pulling into the parking lot and backing my boat off trailer into the lake and going on my way |
Thats wild texoma is clammed up , i rsmember the last spillway overflow its impressive when they have the floodgates wide open at that dam
