The Prop Stop Ticfaw
Anyone heard any new news if they are gonna re-open this year? Or any new places that may open up?
|
Have heard all kinds of rumors, none of them good. One thats been repeated a lot is that its being turned into a wildlife and fisheries station. :(
|
River talk
Went for a ride two weeks ago and was told that Prop Stop was going to open up the usual time this year it always does and Blind River Bar would be opening up hopefully by Easter. Pier 13 was gone for good, but that someone was going to open the Tiki bar just for the summer. That was the talk at this time.

Friend of mine who works as dj there told me that Milton did sell. I have heard that rumor many times though. Milton was in some trouble with DEQ or some federal agency and was looking at some high dollar fines. I am not sure what has come of that investigation. Again a lot of rumors and speculation.

i was told by a good sorce its for sale and if it doesnt sale miltons son will run it this year!

All - we are looking to put a crew of boats together and head to tickfaw area this summer. Where are there some hotels or cabins...with docks...on the water? Any guidance would be appreciated...Thanks
|
Not going to find a whole lot on the water. Might be able to rent a slip at Tickfaw Marina or Blood River Landing for the weekend but no hotels around that I know of. Easiest thing to do would be get a room in Hammond and keep the boat on trailer overnight.
Search for some of the old Tickfaw 200 threads, they have a lot of info on where to stay thats boat friendly. |
There is actually camps you can rent for the weekend that i beleive has docks on the diversion canal close to were pier 13 use to be. Anyone know the phone number? You probably could call blind river bar in gonzales or maurepas I think is the city. la
|
and ask how to contact the camps for rent
|
Forgot about those. I have a number for Thunder Bayou at home. They'll probably know how to rent them. Will post it when I get home.
|
Call Thunder Bayou at 225-675-3621, they might be able to help you out.
|
Any updates on reopening propstop, and my mom and pops live on the diversion canal in maurepas i can try to get the number to those camps next time im in the boat for you guys who want to come down.

Can't get to it from work but I think theres a blog posted on the prop stop website. New owner is still working on securing all the permits. All I've heard is that they will be open this summer.

...and that it will be 21 and older only. Even to tie up at the dock from what I understand. In order to secure the necessary permits etc, the governing body (ABC Board?) is reclassifying it as a bar only - not restaurant/bar. Should be an interesting year but looking forward to the reopening
That's gonna piss off a LOT of college kids! :drink: I'm ready to get back over there. Might run over on the 31st and hang out if they're open by then. |
The Prop Stop on Tickfaw River
They re-opened this past Saturday with new owners. Place looked great. You can keep up with all the updates if you go to Facebook and search The Prop Stop.
|
Ran over and ate lunch at Tin Lizzies yesterday. Had planned on stopping at Prop Stop but it was packed when we went by, no room to park.
|
Yep, we passed about 4:00 and wanted to stop but a little too crowded and we were in a cruiser. Gonna be down for the whole weekend this coming weekend so I'm sure we'll make it by there at some point.
