Knoxville Boating
I'm looking at boating around Knoxville during the upcoming months. Can anyone tell where is the best place to boat is around there? Is Lake Loudon the place to do it? Or is Douglas or Norris Lake better? Are any of the lakes cleaner than another?
Thanks in advance! |
what about Tellico? anyone?

We are in the land of cruisers. If your looking for the party cove there is a few of them. The best one is Prater Flats on Fort Loudon across from Choto Marine. Running between Concord Marine and downtown keep an eye out for floating debris. Tellico the water is cleaner. I heard Norris is the cleanest don't know much about Douglas. If your in the area you should go to Lake Cumberland for the poker run 9/12/09. Downtown Knoxville on 9/5/09 they have a huge party on the water its called Booms day with the best firework display. There is about 200 boats. If your out and about my nane is Bob running around in a 38' white fountain.

Hey Bob, thanks for the help. I am a senior at UT and havent been out on the lake very much at all up there. Im from Florida so I boat down here most of the time. I just plan on going out and doing as little bit of tubing or wakeboarding most tghe time then maybe running her a time or two. Im actually planning on going to the Cumberland Poker Run and going out for Boomsday. Is the law strict about noise limits or speed or anything? Also I cant really find any marinas that will store the boat for me. Do you know of any places that might be of help. The only one who could is Louisville Landing but they are full. Thanks for your help.

I think Choto and Fort Loudon at the dam marinas have in & out rack storage. I've never been stopped for noise or speed usually on weekends I cruise about 55 due to all the traffic and I don't need to tell you to look out for the jet skies and the family boaters pulling their kids in tubes out in the main channel. We have some real ignorant people on the water unexperieced and stupid. TWRA are strict on BUI especially during the evening and night, if I plan on drinking I spend the night rafted up on my boat. These days I wouldn't drink & boat unless I had a DD on board.

Thanks, I tried those places and they couldn't fit a 29' boat. I know what its like with the jet skiers and the ignorant boaters, they're a pain. Thanks for your help. Hopefully I'll be out there some these next few months. I'll be in a 29' Warlock that says Pump It on the side. See ya around
