Lake Travis Lake Level
 

Lake Travis has its poker run coming up in about 1 month. I just wanted to hear from the boaters at Travis about the water levels and the situation there.
Is the Lake safe to navigate by a boater with some common sense and a lake map who has never been there before?
Any other good info you can pass along about safely boating the lake when it is low.

Common sense is the key!!! Don't go out at night---try to stay in the middle, go slow and bring an extra prop.

Thanx . I got my lake map in today and I can see where the deep water will be. It looks like that lake could drop 10-15' and still be good other than maybe a few of the launches may be closed. I am going with a group fo folks who know the lake fairly well. I was just wondering if there were any spots that were know problem areas.

Follow the river from Mansfield dam and you'll be fine. Depending how low, don't cut across the islands forming as the lake level drops. Here's a good link to central tx lake levels.

Boat smart and don't worry about it. Plenty of water left to have a great time down here

I think you will find that Mansfield will be the best ramp, but with the water as low as it is, the ramp will be pretty busy. Get to the ramp early and you'll need plenty of patience. Suprisingly enough--there's a lot of people that have no idea of what the hell their doing :evilb:

Highland Lakes Marina has a good ramp and minimal traffic

You shouldn't have anything to worry about. Most of the areas you have to watch out for are already out of the water. That and you can follow us too!
