Damn it, that sucks

I got excited yesterday when I got pelted with a few rain drops out on lake lbj. I can't wait for this drought to be over. Hopefully next year will have a little more rain...

Don't count on it. People have been telling me that this drought is suppose to last 2-3 years. I don't know where they got that info though. I am getting my boat prepared for salt water with a closed cooling system for next year. It looks like we may not have any choice. I hope I am wrong.

I am not buying 2-3 years...one tropical storm or hurricane and she will be back to normal level....maybe wishful thinking...:party-smiley-004::coolcowboy:

The driving force behind our drought is LaNina. the stronger LaNina conditions are the worse the drought conditions are for the mid southern regions. You can keep up with LaNina forecast here:

I passed Conroe yesterday, and there were still some boats out on the water. I know its pretty deep on the 105 end..... but not sure how deep.

Thought I would post some photos of Lake Conroe I took yesterday afternoon from Lakeview Marina. For all the doom and gloom that the press are giving us.....40' to 50' deep from the dam to almost 1097 bridge and then it's 20' to 30' deep. As you can see lots of deep water to play on.

We still have 20' till the end of our ramp and 4' deep at end then 8' to 20' to the main body of the lake. The ramp is marked so you know where the end of the ramp is.

jeff1000man 09-28-2011 10:18 AM

From what I have ben reading they climatologists are saying no chance at a tropical storm for us this year here in TX. I havn't been reading up n the drought for 2-3 years though. I hope that doesn't happen.

We are getting our flat bottom boats out today and running them a little. My buddy has a V drive and I have an outboard.

I just realized I might not be able to get gas from valero or shell in the sea ray. Getting stuck at the marina with no gas is gonna suck.

demonmaestro 11-30-2011 10:21 PM

as of today wednesday the 30th the SJRA is no longer dumping water into Lake Houston. Now the conroe can fill back up! :D

jeff1000man 02-02-2012 02:49 PM

We took the ouboard all the way to the party cove on the north end of the lake last sunday, If my sea ray was in the water, I would not hesitate to take it up there either. Water is deep enough if yo uknow where to navigate, still plenty of water in the main lake body, and Lakeview marina has been dreging and I have seen 26'+- boats, maybe bigger Boatman22 can chime in, launching and making it out without plowing mud.

Access to the boat docks and retailers is very limited, but the lake is useable.

Griswald 02-02-2012 03:21 PM

Feel lucky guys..... Travis came up a whole 3" last week. Still sitting at 626 = 55ft down. LCRA predicting 600ft amsl by June.

BBADWS6 02-02-2012 04:36 PM

This is great news. Hopefully the rain continues!

T-RAV 02-03-2012 10:35 PM

saw on the news tonight that we are 2" above avg for the year! hope it keeps up!

On Time 02-06-2012 09:46 AM

Current Conditions 2/6/2012

Lake Level
194.53 FT
(Normal Pool=201ft)

BBADWS6 02-09-2012 10:13 AM

If they just keep the dam shut, maybe we will have a decent boating season.

demonmaestro 03-13-2012 08:16 PM

well with all the rain we had last weekend the lake is now only 3feet low.. I am happy.. Keep in mind the lake got down to almost 8ft low.... keep on the rain! :)

moomba05 03-21-2012 09:19 PM

I am new to the Houston area. My boat is currently in dry storage in the DFW area. I am looking to move my boat down here to Lake Conroe. What is the cheapest dry storage on a trailer (don't need valet) that is around Lake Conroe? It's a 23 foot moomba (including swim platform) w/ a wake tower.

Trying to weigh the option of storing boat and hoping for good boating on Lake Conroe versus selling it all together.

Thanks in advance!
D

demonmaestro 03-22-2012 02:59 AM

i cant remember what lakeview marinia quoted me for my 18ft boat but it overall wasnt that bad. however i will say you maybe in luck considering the lake has came up. people are starting to take there boat out of storage and going on the water.

You got Lakeview marinia
Palms marinia

theres a few around...

welcome to Lake Conroe!

BBADWS6 03-25-2012 12:58 PM

I ran around on Conroe yesterday from about 230-630 and although the levels are still about 2.3 ft low it wasnt that bad. I put in at April Plaza and pretty much ran the whole perimeter of the the dam end of the lake to 1097. Hope it keeps raining!!!!

Hula Boat Care 04-24-2012 02:16 PM

I worked the Lake Conroe area last week and it is looking pretty good... the water level is back up and it is good to see boats on the water.

Hula Boat Care products launched its line around Lake Conroe and the products are now available at NAPA Auto Parts in Conroe on S. Frazier and in Montgomery on Eve Street. I hope to add some marinas soon.

Of course the products are available around Lake Travis in Austin as well.

I may be out with the kids on our jet skis Sunday.
I'm still iffy about putting the boat in, it's been almost a year since I got terribly stuck last July 4th.

See ya,
Kelly

stuck from the boats or stuck on a sand bar? if so where were you at?

firehill19 06-23-2012 08:28 AM

We will be out today for the first time this year and first time in a year. Hard to believe its been since mid June last year. Had some repairs to get done before dropping in this year and took a little longer than planned. Still not done but nothing to keep from boating. Today will be shake down cruise and trying to burn the old fuel out. Fingers crossed for an uneventful day. Hanging on the Northend.

demonmaestro 06-23-2012 02:47 PM

Hey anyone going out let me know. Send me a pm and I'll give you my number

I was tooling over to my bud's house/dock in Del Lago talking on the cell phone and got a bit out of the channel in front of his and the neighbors docks when I got stuck on the sand bar.
It took his boat and a neighbors boat to pull my lead sled off of it.
I'm with Firehill, it's been a long time. A couple of weeks ago I went up one afternoon and charged my batteries with my generator, put in 15 gallons of premium, and had the Lakeview tractor dip my drives in. After she started and came up to operating temp I disconnected from the trailer and drove to the dam, then the island, and back over to the marina, a 5 minute ride at best. I really need to go back and get in the salon with some 409 and wipe everything down. I grew the yuck film from sitting on the trailer in the outside storage area without opening her up every now and then to let the inside breathe a little.

See ya,
Kelly

firehill19 06-23-2012 06:48 PM

Our day was a wash!!! No reverse starboard side. Went to the Yacht Club Pool instead. Add another week to our not getting out on the lake.

demonmaestro 06-24-2012 09:11 PM

sorry to hear about that. I maybe going out to Gibbons creek next weekend in my jet. Just depends if i can button up the little stuff this week. Although I got a boat to wax for a fellow boater... Anyways if someone is planning on going out to conroe next week and want someone to tag along let me know i can pitch in some fuel money...

demonmaestro 05-27-2013 10:58 PM

Bump on this. Just wanted to say that yea they lake still has not become full pool yet.

Sitting at 198.46ft of 201Ft so about 2.53 ft low still

I will be out in my jet a few weeks from now. Have to redo the boards on my trailer and get ready for the year. What ya recomend for a good ramp? I like april plaza ramp but i DONT like there driveway into the place. My trailer will probly bottom out. Any other good NON steep ramps?

HOSSMAN 05-28-2013 07:46 AM

You can try Lakeview....good ramp there. We kept our 29 at EZ Boat on 1097 till we just sold it....

Lake probably won't come up because of the "water treatment plant" they are building...good sources I know say they are keeping the lake at that level for the project so the only place Conroe will go unfortunately as the summer heats up is down :(
