Hell yea....Texoma is alive! Normal water level at 615ft and the lake is at 615.83. Bring on the summer baby!
Hey Heath, did you have your P29 out on Eagle Mountain towards early summer last year for a small poker run/get together? If you did...I ran into you out there...nice rooster tail! |
you guys getting much moisture up that way??? we have been getting a pretty good bit down here!!!:party-smiley-004:
|
We've gotten a little more rain then expected over the last month. We'll see how the summer plays out with the algae because it has been a mild winter. If we only had a never-ending supply of water like you guys on the Tickfaw. Say hello to my pops down there, he has lived in Springfield for 15 years. Larry Cobb....runs a 27' Fountain called Caliente. -Chaz
|
hope you guys get more this spring to get things back to normal.
I do know some Cobb's but they live out in Watson where I'm originally from. I will have to see if I can run into him this year. You should come down and visit him the first of May and run in the Tickfaw 200 while your in town:evilb: |
Yea, he has been in Blood River Marina forever. I've done the Tickfaw 200 many times.....best poker run I've been to. I'd do the 200 way before the Emerald Coast anyday. Better food, better people, great boating & big water and plenty of stops that let you get out of the boat and play a little. Not to hijack this post, but any of you guys on here who haven't been to the Tickfaw 200, ya'll should do it at least once.

Tickfaw is on my bucket list.
|
Absolutely a bucket list must do....I've never taken my boat down, but have made the run many times. The best thing they did was make it a two day run on Fri/Sat. You don't necessarily have to run both days, but it makes it much more enjoyable to take your time making all the stops and not have to haul balls to make them all. The sight of a hot chick blowing into a Rooster's butt is kind of funny too. Something silly they do called a Chicken drop where you bet on what square the chicken will crap on first.
We need to get something like this going on Texoma. I know there are issues with what happened with Flash, but at some point people have to realize that is part of living. Texoma is too big of a waterway to not have something like this. |

Would love to, but the apache is actually for sale cause I can't enjoy it while trying to pay for it and daycare for my two daughtes (2yr old, and 1 month old). Hoping to replace it with something thats a little easier on my wallet so I can actually do some of these trips..... Maybe a single outboard boat of some sort. If ya'll have any buddies looking for a solid 28ft resin bucket with almost brand new power send them my way.....:coolcowboy:
So what do ya'll do for lodging in the swamps during Tickfaw? Is there somewhere on the water close to the poker run were a family can stay at? |
I here ya on the boat budget with young ones...i only have one and he's 15 going on 16 so a vehicle is in the future there:cartman: and I have a friend here that has talked to ya about your boat...saw him last night as a matter of fact, he is also a board member for the 200
as far as lodging goes, Hammond is close and has a few hotels, blood river landing has some RV spots and some people actually stay in New Orleans and leave there boat at blood river landing...its a very safe place with lots of available water to tie up with plenty of canal space right next to the Fun House. One of the stops has some cabins that they have renovated and its a pretty nice place (Blind River Bar https://www.facebook.com/pages/Blind...37623812982786 http://www.blindriverbar.com/)... along with some rentals on the tickfaw river that are on the water. You really need to make it sometime, the party starts on thursday night and the fun doesn't stop till Sunday!!! and they now have a Gator drop at the fun house on satruday night:D |
