Damn you get around. Havasu is on my bucket list of lakes I want to get on. We love this lil Mariah. Eventually wanting a bigger second boat though... a house boat if I can figure out how to swing it.

Yeah...the military is relentless in moving people every few years, but at least I get to check out a new boating scene. Getting ready, again, to leave Texas.

Heading out tomorrow to de-winterize trailer and boat. We need some sort of OSO flag to wave at fellow member / boaters. When idling I can't hear too much. See everyone out there, if the weather holds.

I scouted out the Potter's Creek ramp yesterday after work. Potter’s creek is approx. 8 miles west, on FM 306, from the turn-off for JBSA rec area. The lake is pretty low, but the ramp is still in the water. Gradual slope, but a decent angle for launching. I waded down the ramp a bit to determine how much of the ramp was still wet. I was in about 3 feet of water 15 feet down from the water line. I feel confident I can launch my Sunsation from that ramp at the current lake level. The dock is sketchy. Small floating aluminum platform with about 4 feet of water at the dock. Every cleat is broken off the dock. If you are Solo launching, it is certainly doable at this site. You will just have to be careful with that dock. With no cleats, you will have to improvise a tie-point. I'll be on the lake this weekend. Sunday, most likely. I will PM you my cell number. Text me if you need a hand with anything. |

Gonna splash / launch on Friday afternoon at Jacobs Creek ramp. Will let everyone know how the ramp is holding up. Gotta get batteries back in, and fuel the thirsty beast, on Thursday afternoon. Hope she is not too dirty.

Sorry won't be able to make it out this wknd...Easter fun.
If you get a chance, hauling to Havasu (1,170mi) is a blast, two of us did it week of July4, stayed @ London Bridge, left the boat docked in the water and had a blast. We went all the way up to Pirates Cove and then south almost as far as we could. So much different than lakes in Texas! Things slow down during the week so we drove up to Laughlin one night, had fun there and we're back on the water the next day by noon. I'd do it again! |
