Lower end Engine parts

Hey guys took the boat this morning and Lucky me I found a rod knock. Im looking for a set of rods and a crank pistons to if someone has a set that will work. for a 454 block it bored 20 over already to take it to a 468 or 496. I also might switch to a 502 block depending on what's out here. send a pm or message. I'm located in Houston area if anyone close has anything.

How do you know it's a rod? Could be something as simple as a coupler bolt backed out.

I had a tech drive it with me it sounds a lot like a rod and motor stumbles a bit under load where the couple at?

Inside the bell housing. What's your oil pressure?

Jfoster 07-14-2014 03:29 PM

oil pressure is still high 40 +

also It only make the knocking sound under load not just revving it up has to be in gear. is something that can be check without pulling motor?

Pull your drive and checks the u joints. If they are good check the coupler bolts. You might be able to hoist your engine just enough to take the pressure off the mounts to remove the bell housing and check the bolts that fasten the coupler to the flywheel amd the bolts that attach the flywheel to the crankshaft although these would be less suspect.

FWIW you would've had a lot better response if you'd posted this in the tech forum or the general forum. There's a ton of guys on here with tons of expertise. You might want to repost in one of those forums.

So what did you find out?

Oh I have had a chance to look at it yet I don't have a hoist to left the motor. I will have to take it to a shop.
