Texas Weather

The weather in TX is getting to be - lets just say a PITFA

anewway 06-13-2016 03:34 PM

Yeah, I'm ready to be complaining about the heat and wishing it would rain....

Rwbrew3 06-13-2016 03:39 PM

Haha, if it wasnt for the rain my boat would never get wet !!

BUP 06-13-2016 04:02 PM

did you get that trim pump mess figured out yet Rick. today can not do anything because of the weather. Last week super busy until yesterday rains and today.

Rwbrew3 06-13-2016 04:15 PM

Not yet ! I'm gonna give it another shot this weekend it's not raining.

Donzi1979 06-14-2016 10:50 AM

We need to have group of us DFW guys meet up some weekend at PK or Texhoma. The weather is looking a lot better now. At least we have water (too much in some places) but way better than this time in 2014.

Yes sir, if I don't shock myself to death while trying to get this trim fixed I'm all in .....

BUP 06-15-2016 10:49 AM

its been pure fun working outside this year. very humid, Hail, wind, rain Tornado warnings, power outages like crazy, flooding and thats nothing compared to the 10 billion bugs that swam all over you thru out the day, never seen it this bad. Plus billions of ants all over everything

Padraig 06-15-2016 11:49 AM

I thought you Texans were tough?

Padraig

Donzi1979 06-15-2016 01:10 PM

BUP, don't forget the June bugs that die on your boat an leave black stains everywhere. They love the over head light in the shop at night. Oh and the very friendly water moccasins we have seen a lot of recently.

GLENAMY 242SS 06-15-2016 01:30 PM

Yes sir, all the disadvantages of Florida without any of the advantages.

Yep the only hell I can think of that would be worst than florida in the summer is Texas.

Going to Michigan in 2 weeks, rainy cold weather here I come.

BUP 06-15-2016 04:19 PM

brutal here today 4 hours outside and you are completely done. I bet we lead the country again this year with west nile and zika virus twice as bad as last year. Never seen so many mosquito's

a RPITFA.

GLENAMY 242SS 06-15-2016 05:12 PM

For those of you not in Texas, OUR mosquitos are SOO BIG they mate with Daddy Long Leg bugs!

Rwbrew3 06-15-2016 06:25 PM

Bugs, snakes, rain, humidity is nothing compared to all of the construction, doesn't matter where you go your in traffic watching the construction workers watching you !

You obviously don't know Texas. Florida is pretty but I wouldn't want to live there full time.

Nice is Southern California (again) 74, 3-5 mile per hour breeze, sunny.

imartin 06-16-2016 12:23 PM

CA real nice, but you have to go to AZ to boat! HA! Lake Elsinore is a no, no, right?

Love the Temecula area!

You live in some pretty country nw of Houston, Not far from Lake Conroe. My point is that Texas has everything from Desert to Mountains,Gulf of Mexico to the Plains, huge rivers and lakes and almost every other kind of country in between. So it gets a little warm for three months or so. September thru May is worth the wait

I race, boat and offroad there is no limit to the recreation opportunities or land on which to do it. If you want cooler weather (in the evenings) try the hill country

Both cool places to live/visit. I love to go to other places and have traveled the world extensively. Just like the freedom and elbow room in Texas :drink:

CrownHawg 06-16-2016 01:54 PM

You guys in Texas have sure had a rough decade! Drought for 8, then flooding for the next two! Sure hope things settle down for you guys. Of course, you're not far from GOD'S country here in Arkansas!! LOL!!

GLENAMY 242SS 06-16-2016 01:55 PM

You forgot about the forest fire that evacuated us for 2 weeks.

GLENAMY 242SS 06-16-2016 02:04 PM

Wobble, I spent my working years traveling N. America with several trips to Orient. Always lived out in the country for room, hotels get campy even the large ones. While what you say about Texas, not trying to argue, has some merit the fact is there are NO Mountains, NO large rivers, NO large lakes and to change scenery you need to travel for 2 days. Heck if you live in So. Cal you can go dune bugging or off road motorcycle riding in the morning, snow skiing in the afternoon and surfing that evening. Heck you could stop off at lake Castaic and go water skiing also, all in the same day. That is diversity.

CrownHawg 06-16-2016 02:06 PM

That is true, but you have to dodge the fruits and nuts all the way.... BTW, how's Travis? Bob L said his place is flooded! 3 yrs ago, it was 45ft down!!!

GLENAMY 242SS 06-16-2016 02:10 PM

I did not say it was perfect!
Wobble, do you go to Marble Falls for the drags?

CrownHawg 06-16-2016 02:53 PM

I was joking, (kinda), I was actually born in Lancaster! Grew up in the desert. Loved the trips to Pismo.

Yes, not so much lately used to have access to a house that was on the water next to course.

Even by the toughest yardstick, we have real mountains https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o...peaks_of_Texas

Lakes, maybe not the best but they are all full again. Sam Rayburn, Texoma, Livingston, Travis

Rivers http://texasalmanac.com/topics/environment/rivers The Rio Grande is nearly 1900 miles long

Texas also has jobs, main reason people that think other places are better now live here:whistle:

GLENAMY 242SS 06-16-2016 07:11 PM

You are right I never thought of it, Ca. does not have monoliths (Mtns?).
Please post recent photos of boating on the Rio Grande.
Just bantering.
I do Marble Falls every year, great scenery and unbelievable venue for the races. Let me know if you are going this year.

Rwbrew3 06-21-2016 09:37 PM

Finally got the boat wet and not from rain, went to Lewiville and she is full for sure, most of the ramps around me are closed due to being under water or under construction but it was nice being out on a full pool. Boat ran good, but would get pretty warm after running her and coming to a idle, time for a impeller I'm sure !!

Hoping to be out there this weeekend if anyone is out let me know.
