Default Lots of exciting news for Lake Travis!

First off the biggest place on the lake , the former Carlos and Charlies has reopened
as the Rusty Rudder,,they have poured some deep money into this place to make it
the premiere venue on the lake.
They have opened the outside party bar area,,the restaurant and are turning what used to be the
banquet room downstairs into a sports bar so they can stay open year round regardless of weather..

More good news is that the Gnarly Gar (used to be Shades then The Pier) has bought
the old Johnny Finns building which is four times the size, has remodeled it and are in the process of
switching them out,,they hope to be done by New Years,,this will also be a year round venue..

The old Cafe Blue has also reopened as Niks back in august and they also have a killer food menu not
too mention one of the nicest views on the lake..

Sundancers opened couple years ago and has done extremely well ,,have great food, most of it with a cajun twist,
and due to being close to highway 620 stays open year round 7 days a week.. I have stopped there by boat and by car .
They are the place to go for sunday brunch.. The crab omelette is frikin awesome.

So far the LCRA has kep its word about limiting the water to the rice farmers while they build a
containment facility downstream of Austin which has kept the lake at full pool all year round.
The result is it will catch all the rains we miss here and should keep the farmers happy while keeping
Travis from going so low in times of drought.

This is what has spurred the increase in money being spent on lakeside establishments..
Only down side is there will be a whole lot more boats in the water next summer..

Only sad news to report is Steve Webb the president of the LTPA has stepped down after 17 years
of organizing charity poker runs on Lake Travis,, just has grown too much for him to handle along with his business.
In those 17 years the LTPA has raised over one million dollars for charity..
We are hoping someone with as much heart and enthusiasm as him takes the reins for next year.

Yes, nice write up! The fact is there are so many that can step up to the plate to run LTPA...and the volunteers are almost endless for the runs so it's not as if one single individual would have to run it or bear that burden. Way to go SMFW for a great run in doing so much for the charities!
