Lakes around Dallas Tx
Looking at a possible transfer to the Dallas area, are any of the lakes down there performance boat friendly, and which lake offers docks behind the home? Thanks in advance for your help.

wakeboard and pontoon and bass boat country. And already starting back in drought once again. There is a few sportboats running around but not like it use to be.

Only been on a couple up there. Joe Pool wasn't too bad but a little small. Eagle Mountain was pretty nice and had boat houses. Bucket list trip this year is Possum Kingdom near Mineral Wells.

If you follow the posts under this section - one can see not much sport boating taking place in the DFW area for the past couple of years. Coming from LOTO you might be disappointed boating locally in the DFW area. The local lakes are small and a few lakes have mostly entry level boats running around. We have 3 or 4 Bass Pro shops and 2 Cabelas locally and there is a reason for it. A ton of small entry level boat buyers. No Poker Runs period for at least 180 miles radius around. |

Possum Kingdom and Lake Texoma both are an hour and half from DFW. Those are the only 2 lakes I would go to with a Sportboat and want to let it rip a bit. PK has no pull up bars nor food places. Texoma has a few places. Lake Travis in Austin is a good place to give a try as well. 200 miles from DFW.

Travis is crazy in the summer when the water is up. We have a place on LBJ and it's not bad at all most of the summer. |

That is what I was worried about, LOTO is a blast for sure. We may just keep the LOTO house and travel to it. We drive 4.5 hours to it now every weekend, but from DFW we may be flying more.

PK Poker Run
There is a group that has started running at PK its called Possum Kingdom Muscle Boat Association and they are on face book and have there own web page. I was think about making couple of their fun runs and poker run if they have it next year. They seemed to have a decent turn out last summer.

60 mins at Loto one would see more sportboats than 2 years in DFW on all the lakes combined. Have to tell it like it is. |
