houston or austin area
Wife may be transferring to work in either. What is the better overall place to live and boat Houston or Austin area. We currently are great lakers with a 42 outerlimits but having a go fast is no longer mandatory.
Thanks |

Ditto on shunter2005's comments. I am partial to the Austin area as that is where we reside. Lake Travis is the jewel of the highland lakes with additional boating lakes above and below the river path. Our lakes are blessed with great marinas for on the water storage and many on the water restaurants. Don't forget, it is real easy to trailer your boat to either location in less than half a day. We have trailered over to Clear Lake (Houston) several times over the years. Clear Lake is the gateway to the Houston ship channel that will lead you to Galveston and the open Gulf of Mexico. There is a very active performance boating group known as "TOPPS" based in the Clear Lake area. The group hosts frequent poker runs and get togethers for the boating community. Welcome to Texas and bring your Outer Limits on down!

Austin area, for all the comments provided. Also, being significantly impacted by Hurricane Harvey myself, a little further in from the coast isnt a bad thought either. Iboat on Canyon Lake, about 45min from the Austin area. Not the largest lake in TX, but would argue its among the cleanest. Not constant level, so like Travis, sees fluctuation....
