Moving to Florida
I am considering moving to Florida, what are some good lakes for pleasure boating?
|
A lot of lakes down here, but mostly all too small to get a good run. The St Johns river in North Florida is nice, and everywhere else, the salt is fun.
|
Lakes??? We don't need no stinking lakes. The Atlantic is the only "lake" I like to play in;):cool-smiley-026:

Practically anywhere on the west side is good- Marco Island to Tampa Bay.
Here's the main stomping ground for FMO- Charlotte Harbor to Everglades City. Come on down! :ernaehrung004: |
Never boated in salt, looking at a job offer in Panama City and Orlando area. Looking to relocate in a smaller city. Any help will be appeciated. Have a 30 ft go fast.

I lived in the Orlando area for 18 years....you would need to trailer up to the St. Johns river or to either coast to use your boat there. Panama City would be a much better choice from a boating aspect. Check your boat insurance rate though....it should increase substantially.

Panama City would be my choice. I lived there twice growing up, when Dad was in the Navy. The bay there is real nice for boating. Lake X is located there.
For Orlando (I live 45 minutes from there), either the St John's (which I live on a canal off), or the Harris Chain of Lakes near Leesburg. |

Dont forget lake TOHO in St. Cloud, heck, if we can run a turbine in it, he can run a 30 footer, they also have the marina and restaurant now.

Just out of curiosity, anyone know what the job market is like in the Panama City area? I'm not thinking of moving, but I've been there a few times and I got the impression that it is primarily a tourist-driven economy, very similar to Myrtle Beach.
