Jacksonville......I have questions!
I have an option to move to Jacksonville and am wondering how the boating scene is there?
Is the St. George River brackish or more fresh water? I know there is a huge fireman sponsored poker run that attracts a ton of boats but how is it on the average weekend? How is the price of condos or housing on the river? Thanks, Jason:drink: |
Depends where you are on the river. At the mouth it's salt. By the time your down town it's brackish. Further south it become's fresher.
Ton's of places to go by boat. If you trailer you can run the intercoastal one day and the river the next. Jax is mostly fish boats and cruisers but there are some performance boaters around. Houses on the river are over 1MM and go up, way up. Even canal access is pretty pricey in most area's. I'm not familiar with condo pricing. Come on down and check it out:ernaehrung004: |
Thanks for the reply. I have found some canal homes for under 200K but im sure they are crap!
|
I am south of Jacksonville in an area called Fleming Island. (about 20m south) Like most areas prices have come down in the last year or so. There are some canal homes with access to the St. Johns in the low 400's and up. River front goes 800K to skys the limit.
At 200K I would take a hard look could be limited access or bad flood zone or other problems. The boating in the area is great. Hope you find what your looking for. |
Yeah I think your right about flood area or something suspicious. This is all on the internet too......so we all know how pictures can make or break something.
Thanks!!!! I would be working @ Cecil Field and would be willing to drive up to around 30 minutes each way. Keep it coming. On a side note "Gator Dave" how do you like your 26' Velocity. I have been seeing some good deals these days and have considered that boat simply because of the base features.:ernaehrung004: |
I actually have a 25 Outlaw. Which has been an extremely reliable, fun to run boat for 5 years now. Flash has the 26 Velocity. There's a bunch of guys around here with 26-29 Velocitys. They all seem to swear by them.

Dave your right the 29 SC and the VR1 are both sweet rides.
A little luck and a little more $$$ someday I would love to step up. Your 25 Outlaw should run in the rough pretty good with that nice ture deep V. ( I do miss the Corsa when it really gets big) Crab Shack is a great place on the weekends will have to plan a OSO day or a Jax Power Boat Day there. |

Lake Harris
Anyone know of any go fast boats on Lake Harris in Leesburg, Flordia?
|
Finally made it over to Clark's the other night. Food was great it may be one of the best places for food on the water in the south Jax area.
I am still commuting between south Fla and Fleming Island (work south, live here) so only have limited time on the water right now. Hope Outback opens soon, love the weekend afternoons there. |

JET JOCK,
Have you gone to the Destin Poker run for the last two years? I have the fountain that I couldn't dock. Well I could dock only after hitting everything first. |

The dock at Clarks is rather small and not in the best condition but it was usable.
Outback is now open again was there last weekend. |
