Any members near Punta Gorda?
 

I know a guy who just bought a second home in Punta Gorda (sp?) Any members in the area? He's on a canal, so that's a plus, not sure how far in he is. Is this a good central area for boating? Isn't the west coast usually a little more calm than the east coast? Any info on "hot spots" or things to watch out for would be appreciated. Should he join the Ft. Meyers club or is that too far away to participate in those runs? Thanks!

You should pose this question in the Fort Myers Offshore section.. You're probably not getting any answers because most of them are at the Fort Myers poker run this weekend. The lunch stop is in Port Charlotte, next door to Punta Gorda.

So, to answer your question; Yes, he should join FMO. No, it's not too far away. There are a number of members from the Charlotte Harbor area. There is a fun run on April 4th from Sanibel to Naples bay and then to the beach on Keewaydin Island.
