Jacksonville Boaters Unite

The economy and high gas prices have hit many people I know very hard. Boating buddies (and motorcycling buddies) have all dried up. I guess what I'm saying is that I'm looking for new friends. Friends with boats that like to cruise around raft up and have a few beers. Anyone else?

ItsPeanut 01-25-2012 02:31 PM

There is a Jax powerboat club. Im sure a member will chime in. Are you by the beach or in town?

Secret Formula 01-25-2012 03:32 PM

I'm in town. Julington Creek.

Boomer35 01-26-2012 06:00 AM

do you keep your boat at the Julington Creek Marina? Ive seen a formula there lately

Secret Formula 01-26-2012 07:00 AM

On Julington Creek but not at the marina.

GatorDave 01-26-2012 02:43 PM

Another guy with a boat at Julington Creek marina. Secret Formula you definitely need to hang out with the Jax Performance Boat Club and see if you want to join. Rafting up and having a cold one is a "specialty" of the club.

PM me your email and I can drop you a note the next time I know some of us are going out.

I'm thinking this Saturday might be a Whiteys run in the afternoon.

David

GatorDave 01-27-2012 07:53 AM

It's on. Leaving Julington Creek at noon on Saturday to run to Whitey's. 2 boats so far. Secret Formula you will make 3 if your schedule permits. Boomer you are welcome to ride with me if your not putting your boat in. I imagine we will have a few more meet us at Whiteys.

David

Boomer35 01-27-2012 08:12 AM

Thanks Dave, Heading to Tampa for Gasparilla in a few hours... Next weekend i will be out for sure.

Secret Formula 01-27-2012 08:35 AM

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that my boat will be back together today. If it is, I'm defineitely there. Keep any eye out for me. 22' Formula. Teal and checkerboard hull with yellow and purple Z shaped striping on the side.

Ouch:poopoo: Zima....didn't think you were old enough to know about that stuff. I'll remember that the next time you need that resin bucket of yours towed home!

Weather was great this past Saturday. I'm up for it again this Saturday. You buying the Zima???

Secret Formula 02-01-2012 11:28 AM

I should be getting the boat back today and would like to tag along with anyone heading out this Saturday.

GatorDave 02-02-2012 08:46 AM

Unlikely I will make it out this weekend. Boomer started some discussion around making a trip on Saturday. If I get any details I'll send them to you.

David

Secret Formula 02-09-2012 07:54 AM

I know I've been crying wolf a lot lately but it would appear that we hae all of the oil leaks fixed. Just in time for the cold weather, no less. Definitely heading out this Saturday. If anyone else is heading out hit me up.

bikercrze1 03-20-2012 07:23 PM

I'm gonna be in the Mayport area this weekend anyone else around?

ItsPeanut 03-21-2012 08:49 AM

I didnt know they still made zima. When i was in high school if you told a girl you had zima they were coming. That was the early 90's though. Gatordave must have a secret stash or something.

bikercrze1 05-04-2012 09:58 AM

Heading out Sunday around 10 taking the Intra Coastal down to St Augustine and we're gonna dock up at the Municpal marina and hit a few bars get some food. Anyone wanna run with us PM me. Peanut you still around I sent ya a text havn't heard back?

GatorDave 05-05-2012 07:50 AM

Next Saturday, 5/12, is the annual Boats, Brats, and Bikinis raft up at Bayard Point. Starts around 11 am and goes until? Bring a side dish and come hang out. Sponsored by the Jacksonville Performance Boat Club and North Florida Yacht Sales.

GatorDave 05-08-2012 07:19 AM

Secret Formula you were looking for raft ups. This Saturday is one of the biggest local events of the year. You going to be out there?

bikercrze1 05-08-2012 08:47 AM

Where is Bayard point from the Intra Coastal where it hits the St johns river heading south? is this a kid friendly deal we used our sitter money this past weekend.

GatorDave 05-08-2012 01:17 PM

Bayard Point is South of Green Cove Springs on the river. Cross under the 16 bridge and go another couple of miles South. It's on the West side of the river. There's a sandbar there that we will be setting up grills on.

Typically there are kids around. I would call it family friendly. Part of that depends on who you raft up next to:party-smiley-004:

bikercrze1 05-14-2012 12:23 PM

Can you guys recommend a trustworthy certified shop in the jax area? I ran a compression test and I have a dead cyclinder but I need to get a diagnosis on weather is it is a valve failure or a piston/ring failure and I am not equipped to do that right now.

GatorDave 06-29-2012 12:31 PM

Secret Forumla and the rest of the Jax gang,

Have some boats heading out of Julington Creek at noon on Saturday. Right now the plan is to head to Bayard Point for a while. Come on out and run with us or drop by later.

bikercrze1 06-30-2012 01:49 PM

I would be there but I am still working out some kinks with my motor enjoy the water!

Secret Formula 07-10-2012 08:55 AM

Dave,

I'm sorry I missing the outing. I've been crazy busy lately and haven't checked this site in a while. I am hoping to get out this weekend.

rescue 08-26-2012 11:12 AM

Hello fellow Jax boaters. I've not been running much the past few years, mainly off and on, as I've only be in town 3 months or so a year, but plan to have a lot of down time in the near future. After late Oct I'll prob have my white/red scarab scs out quite a bit. I live on the Pottsburg and will be cruising from there to the landing and Julington Creek or Doctors Inlet...Hope to see some of you out there. By the way, checking the jax performance boating club site, the last 'events' looked to be for 2011, maybe I'm missing something...
Cheers
Shawn

bikercrze1 09-04-2012 12:15 AM

Well then buddy "rescue" maybe buy a horse he will keep you company on the off season.

Secret Formula 09-12-2012 03:06 PM

The weather is starting to cool off a bit. Should be some real nice boating days for the next two months

Secret Formula 04-10-2013 03:43 PM

Alright. I know I have not been good at following up and meeting with you guys. Spring is now finally here. I knocked the dust off the ol' Formula last Sunday and took the kids for a short cruise. I'm definitely anxious to get this boating season started. I've already started stocking up on beer and sun screen.

GatorDave 04-11-2013 10:48 AM

Heading to Palatka Friday for the fun run and Saturday run. Good way to start the season.

Unfortunately it will be the end of season for me. Relocating out of Florida this summer and having to sell the Sunsation:mad:

Secret Formula 04-12-2013 07:56 AM

I'm sorry to hear you are leaving Florida, Dave. It was nice almost knowing you.
