Moving to Fort Lauderdale
Hey guys. I may be taking a new job in Fort Lauderdale and moving from Atlanta. Raises a few questions ...
I have a 32' sunsation and all my boating has been fresh water on Lake Lanier in Atlanta. It's been awhile since I've been boating in salt water. What are the normal maintenance recommendations for the boat? Engines - 496HOs? And for anyone in Fort Lauderdale ... recommendation on where to store it? Local hang outs? Thanks! JP |
Flush it well, and use a corrosion block on certain parts. Where in lauderdale? I prefer Palm beach and Miami for keeping the boat, less idle zones. We have a few decent rack storage places right near Boynton inlet, or if you want to trailer(which I would suggest for a newbie so you can see tha whole area), there are several lots.

Fresh water flush after every time you run it, and CRC EVERYTHING !!

Good feedback, thanks! I expect I'll be living downtown near the courthouse. My brother is in the exchange lofts and ill likely end up in the same building or somewhere close.
Interesting thought on trailering ... But I'm not going to have a place to store it since I'll be in a condo... |

One more from a lunch run on the west coast, I like to be able to travel with the boat.

Thanks guys!
Cash Bar ... It's only a 1-2 yr move, so looking to rent. My brother lives in the Exchange Lofts apartments which seem really nice and reasonable, so that's my default to start. Familiar with those? If it changes, ill definitely let you know! I'll take you up on the storage recommendations! I should know definitely by mid November. |
Sounds good. That's right after Key West so lots of people still playing here.

I know of a marina for rack storage, near broward/palm beach county line...closest inlet is Boca Inlet. Also, if you are going to keep it on a trailer, I know of a storage yard with 24 hour access and reasonable rates - approx $150 a month. they have a hose there for flush down and don't mind if you swing your own wrenches for service. As for maintenance, you have to wash EVERYTHING with soap and water, flush the motors after every outing. Be super aggressive with greasing everything. and Corrosion Block spray is your best friend. Good luck! |
Thanks! Once I know dates for sure, I will be in touch!

Check out North Beach Marina on 79th Street Causeway, Miami.
That area is only about 5 miles South of the Sand Bar at Haulover Inlet and 7 miles North of Government Cut/Port of Miami...close to Everything. Also consider Dinner Key Marina in Coconut Grove...good location to shoot into South Biscayne Bay and run South to the Keys. Contact any of us down here once you get ready to locate. It's a big place and can be mind boggling to a new comer:evilb: |
