Cape Coral rental

Looking at renting a place on SE 20th Pl., is that a good area to be in? We will be coming some time in June. How far are the beaches from here? Any good restaurants to go to by boat preferably in the area?

bigboat28 12-31-2013 12:30 PM

Any thing going on down there like the third week of June?

36Tango 12-31-2013 01:25 PM

Lots of rentals on VRBO.com
With that being the off season you should get a hell of a deal! Boating is great down there, have fun!

314joey 12-31-2013 02:17 PM

Don't know the address you're looking at, but the SE 20th Place I know is in a OK area, but then I think everything is nice down here, the best area of the Cape is anything in the SW part of the Cape, preferably South of Veterans Blvd.

There's a public beach over by the Yacht club in Cape Coral, but the best and nicest beaches are either on Ft. Myers Beach, Sanibel or Captiva, all are between 30-45 minute drive by car, not far at all.

The schedule hasn't come out yet for the stuff happening in the Cape yet, but no big races or anything like that, just beautiful weather, I wouldn't make it any later than early June though, we come into our raining season after that and you wouldn't want to be on vacation then, the best time of the year is Feb-April.

If you have any further questions ask away or PM and I'll ship you're number and we can talk on the phone.

If you do get down and we get out, maybe we all can go for a boat ride, good luck.

SE 20th PL is real close to river access if that means anything. 33904 closer than 33990.

bigboat28 12-31-2013 03:29 PM

The house we are looking at is right on the river.

A Houseboat ????

bob 12-31-2013 07:53 PM

Bunch of restaurants to go to by boat. Either up the river where it's protected, up in ICW where it is still protected, or Ft Myers Beach area or Naples or Marco or Punta Gorda or .....Beaches to pull up on by boat as well. If you like to boat you'll like the area.

bigboat28 01-07-2014 12:49 PM

No not a houseboat, a house on the river with a dock?

We love to boat and love the water. Are there lots of beaches and islands to go to by boat? How hard is it navigating down there? If we go I am trying to decide if I want to bring the Pantera or just use the boat at the house which is probably what we will do if we get to go.

314joey 01-07-2014 01:59 PM

I wouldn't call it hard, more that you need to know the markers and pay attention to them, I would suggest you get a map from West Marine before you go out on the boat and check it out, watch you're depth finder and use the markers, stay in the channels and you'll be OK, especially when puling up to the beaches, it gets shallow and if you've only fresh water boated don't forget about the tides, if you beach on a high tide and you stay for 4-5 hours you might have a hard time getting off, I've seen several boats get stuck on Ft. Myers Beach that way.

I think the map will explain a lot they are really helpful, maybe try and even get one before you go, good luck.

bigboat28 01-16-2014 06:35 PM

We booked the house today we are coming june 15th.

314joey 01-16-2014 06:53 PM

Good for you, did you get the house over on 20th place.

bigboat28 01-16-2014 07:24 PM

Yes we did. It is right on the river. The house has a boat we can rent which we probably will but we are considering bringing our boats too. How rough do you think the water gets at the dock being right on the river? Can't wait to do some boating there, hopefully we can figure it out. Where are the good places to go as far as just hanging out and swimming, where are the good secluded beaches and where are the good restaurant bars and any other good places to go? Are there any good snorkling areas?

314joey 01-17-2014 03:36 PM

I think I mentioned it in a previous post, the first thing I would do, before I even put the boat in the water, I would go to West Marine, it's right down the street from where you're staying on Cape Coral Parkway and buy a local navigation map, they're $30 bucks and they're laminated so if you get them wet it won't ruin it.
The maps have all the channels, markers, bars/restaurants and most of the beaches, it's the best $30 you can spend down here.

How long would it take to boat to key west from here?

Crude Intentions 01-18-2014 08:57 AM

90 miles or so to key west. One of the best weekend spots to hang out is anchor up in the gulf in front of lani Kai. Love that place. Good music. Lots of good little places on the water in some of the canals and up and down the river. Plus not far up to Charlotte harbor for even more stuff. I'm still learning

bigboat28 01-18-2014 09:01 AM

I.C.U. You going to have your fountain by June?

Are you going to have access to a boat, if so, the Fish House, Cabbage Key, how long you gonna be here, on land I would definitely go to Miceli's up on Pine Island Road West of Chiquita, there's lots more.

bigboat28 05-13-2014 08:07 PM

We do have a boat, rented one with the house. We are going to be there for a week. Looking for places to go by boat, once we get there hope to never be in a car till we leave, although we might have to go to the grocery.

Scabby Jack 05-20-2014 06:36 AM

There is also Rumrunners Restaurant at the Lock.

bigboat28 06-01-2014 07:06 PM

We will arrive 2 weeks from today. What and where are the good hang out spots?

bigboat28 06-01-2014 07:08 PM

Where exactly is Lani Cai?

It's on Ft. Myers Beach going South a few miles down from the bridge on the right.

formula1 06-07-2014 11:38 AM

Downtown Ft. Myers is a short car or boat ride from where you are staying. They really did a great job bringing the downtown area back to life! Get the Map and stay in the channels!

smashm 06-07-2014 08:30 PM

A place I just discovered a few weeks ago is the capri fish house on the isle of capri.right there at marco island.nice dockage, very laid back, great time.reminded me of the keys years ago.plenty of water in the channel.

bigboat28 06-09-2014 09:18 PM

Got the map, we are ready to go.

bigboat28 06-11-2014 11:48 AM

Anyone have a boat they want to rent cheap? LOL. Just heard from rental guy that boat is supposedly wrecked and wont be fixed by time we get there. What a joke, his boat guy says he has more rentals now has none so we might not have a boat if we go.

Sorry to hear this.but, plenty of boat rentals down there in the area.most marinas & resorts offer boat rentals.if you are looking for a performance boat rental, not sure but you might call offshore performance or, is it called performance offshore, I always mix that up lol.they may be able to steer you in the correct direction.hope this helps.

Where are you coming from in Ohio ? I happen to be back in the norwalk area but am heading back down in the morning.

314joey 06-11-2014 02:08 PM

I thnk there's few places in The Cape that rents boats, google "boat rentals Cape Coral" and see what you get, it's free to try.

bigboat28 06-11-2014 04:05 PM

We are coming from right outside of Columbus, just east. We are driving down Friday evening, stopping in Northern Florida for Saturday night and finishing the trip Sunday morning. We can get in our rental at 4pm Sunday.

The other boat rentals we found were like 1800 for a week, but I will look some more. Hopefully they get the boat we rented fixed by Sunday because our rental price was significantly less.

I talked to the "Boat Guy" a little bit ago that was rude and he said they might have the boat done by tomorrow or the next day or I could be a few weeks. See if I ever rent from this guy again.

golfmaxgolf 06-14-2014 06:33 AM

If you get the opportunity check out north captiva for the hang out and safety harbor just south for some island appeal! Late
