Insurance in Florida for a Formula Fastech

Hello,

I would like to find out what is the recommended company for insurance in Miami. I looking to get into a Formula Fastech 353, 312 or 292.

So far insurance is a real deal killer.

thanks

no one in the south Florida area with these type of boats that can help?

I don't have a boat yet but Allstate has blown everyone out of the water thus far, including boat specialty insurers by hundreds a year. Got a quote on a 30' 90's scarab with $3k recovery included, $1k deductible, wind ins, comp., liability, collision, stored on its trailer at a marina or house for $600 a year. I have 2 cars and 3 bikes insured with them as well. I'm on the treasure coast. Did you check the ins. section of the board for references too?

I will give Allstate a try.
Quotes I've been get were 3 K to 4 K range. For a faster 353 200 year.
I submitted through some of the Advertised vendors, still waiting for a quote.
I also have the defibrillator ready ...... CLEAR!!!!!!!

Insurance companies that have limits for their own risk benefits don't appear to be helpful to marine from what I have seen. I won't name any companies unless someone else calls them out but some will not cover marine with more than two engines, over 70mph and over 1000 hp. In the world of go fast that is a major barrier but the limit is the insurance company and not a buyers options. Look for an insurance company that is not limited in the marine world and you will find reasonable insurance imho. My 419 is beyond all these limitations but that is not a limit on what we found for insurance.
Foremost is who we are with now and there are others who are marine friendly. To me that means they are able to give a reasonable coverage option and premium that doesn't prevent buying a boat and enjoying it.

Foremost and progressive are at 4500 + for coverage. I honestly think that is ridiculous. When looking at what you are covering compared and the price you're paying , it just doesn't make sense.

I have a perfectly clean driving history , with 7 years operating a vessel with no claims. I guess I have to bare the cost burden for others in south Florida.
What's strange is progressive quoted me $1800 about 6 months ago before I sold my boat.
I wonder what happened.

That is ridiculous. Insurance for a boat price, compared to insurance at the same price of a house should reasonably be closer than they are. When a boat is more than four times the premium of a house for the same price I have to wonder why and is that even fair. Insurance seems to be a problem for marine.

Priobe 09-21-2015 08:11 AM

Aquaforce I agree. I have been searching for insurance and it is truly ridiculous. I could understand if I have a bad credit, claims, bad driving record etc. but this is not the case. I have never filed for a claim on any of my assets, have a excellent credit, and perfect driving record.

Really makes you wonder how they make these determinations.

I am really stuck. All I can do is keep searching.

When we had our 353 down South we had Progressive for three years, it was a PITA and was expensive, almost twice as much to insure it here at LOTO.

314joey,

If you don't mine me asking was it similar to what I am experiencing 4500 +.

Try Liberty Mutual, they are reasonable (at least where I am at) and their claim service is very good.

Dean Ferry 09-23-2015 03:43 PM

Try Dennis Onstott at Elton Porter.

Priobe 09-23-2015 03:45 PM

Thanks guys,

Keep them coming.

I have geico for everything. Just did a quote on a 42 fountain. Came back $1800 full coverage on their value. Agreed value bumped it to 2400. Not horribly bad rage numbers for Florida. You will pay more in Florida. 12 months of boating vs 3-5 in other pats of the country and hurricane potential is high. Lol

Tractionless 09-25-2015 03:37 PM

Priobe,

What was your experience with Allstate?

As an update I got a new quote with the actual HIN# on the '97 Baja 302 with trailer that I wound up buying. Storing at home $645/year, with wind coverage as well as break down towing coverage ($5K).

Wakezone was $1600 for less than comparable.
