I had a 30 Spectre with the xs's. Great boat! I had the motors at 1 5/8 above the bottom. I ran the 15 x 32 4 blade cleavers, my boat topped out at 101. It did porpoise from 50 to 75, but at 75 and faster the boat ran great. I saw in your avatar you have a 30 concept. I just bought a 30 with 300 Verados. I could use some setup tips!

Hey Danrad; I have the 36pr with 300 V's, I have not done anything to the setup, it's perfect from the factory. It came with 23" 3blade tempest and runs about 63, I also have 4Blade Bravo copies which ads some transom lift and is a little harder out of the hole and runs 63-64 trimmed to the moon, I have a huge fiberglass T-Top that slows it down a bit, but handles anything your through at it, like 10'+ sea's.
Enjoy these are great Boats !!!!
Bill

I'm thinking about buying a 30 spectre w 300xs's. Sounds like y'all are happy with it. Is there any wood in a 2000 30 spectre?

Not entirely relevant but from what I've seen on my boat (a 32) even a little change in engine height can have a pretty noticeable impact on hop and handling, try moving them a bit and see. I've got a 32 w/ XS's and am in the process of RE-rigging after a piss poor job by the Frisini bunch but I'm close and look forward to another great summer with the boat.

The Factory ?
What year is yours ?
Today I found out that the 'Steering Plates" bolts that are hidden inside the cowling were 3/8" instead of the 1/2" , I guess they were too lazy/cheap to use the required hardware, at least there's not enough hours on the motors/boat to have loosened causing more problems. Mine is a 2007.

Mine is a 2011, love the boat but had to go through most of it to get it right after it left the factory. Crazy but it doesn't surprise me to hear of the wrong bolt sizes you found, I've found a ton of either nuts, bolts, studs, and wiring hardware that wasn't stainless, or "marine rated". was just a process of finding it all and replacing it with what should have been used in the first place.

Hope you're having as much fun with yours as I am.

New to me 30' 2000 spectre w 300xs's. 3x 32 cleavers get almost 100mph. Prior owner says there are better props. Mentioned the 5 blade Hering.
Anyone have hydraulic jackplates or do you just set them and leave them?

After months of research and several phone calls, I have found that the set-up you have is the best for this Boat, Mechanical Jack's, Motor's set at 1-1/2", 15x32's 3 Blade Cleavers, Motors turning out.
This is my first Tunnel, I have learned that you need a lot of seat time to figure them out unless you have somebody in your Boat that has experience to share with you.
Mine before reworking everything with 15x30's 3 Blades hit 100mph, I'll be running mine this week for the first time after re-rigging, Dave Bush Stage 1 kit, re-flashed ECM and Lower Vent kits along with setting the motors at 1-1/2".

If you could try some 5 Blades, we all would want to know how they performed

I'd be glad to report. Sounds like a lot of $ though. But hey, it's only money, right?
Please let us know how your DBR stage 1 kit effects your boat. I've been on the fence about doing it.

The problem with the 3 blades cleavers props are to hard for the drives, vibration, etc...that set up just work for top end speed.
The new 4 blade bravo style props for outboard cats (Mercury or Hering) are more friendly whit the drives and perform better with a pleasure outboard cat
Look at the races stock class no ones use cleaver style props any more
Also if the 3 blades cleaver are lab finish their broke blades every time for long periods ride, (if dont broke the drives first)
