New Spectre 30 Owners

My father in-law just bought a 2001 30 with 500EFI's with 125 hrs. We are both very excited about this boat. We have had V bottom performance boats the last being a 32 Fountain. I wanted to ask for some advise on these boats. How are they built? Any bad running characteristics? History? Cruising speeds? Problem areas in the boat?

Any advice or comments would be appreciated.

Thanks

Never driven one but it seems they can be prone to porpoising. Don't want to scare you, so read these threads (and search, I'm sure there are more) and you'll see lots of helpful advice.

Lots of good ideas, tunnel tabs, nose cones, props, weight in the bow etc. Doesn't sound like a big issue but if you're not familiar with cats it may take some getting used to and perhaps fine tuning for the conditions you go boating.

Always liked Spectres, congrats to your in-law on the purchase. Better sign him up on OSO and post some pics!

Nice looking boat. Stay safe. Learn to drive the boat a little at a time. Learn it's quirks not in a panic mode. I bought my first cat 2 years ago and had to learn all over again HOW to drive a boat. Cat's are a totally different driving style than a V.

Congrats on the new boat. I just bought my 2002 30 and had a 35 Fountian before. So far I've been happy with mine. I haven't had much seat time but it's definitely different. Mine has outboards so that's a new thing for me as well. Good luck!

I'm looking forward to learning this boat. I have run a couple of cats, but to have one to put some serious seat time in makes me really excited! I just don't know a lot about these boats. It sounds like they are well built boat and that they handle the water well. I have not been able to see any hard numbers on dimensions and weight. Does anyone know of a resource for some of this info?

Thanks
