25 Aggressor Question

Hello Everyone,

I'm going to look at a 1992 25' Aggressor tomorrow. the boat does not have a motor, but looks to be in good shape for a 1992. What kind of power would I need to add to reach speeds in the mid to upper 70s. also any thoughts of what the boat (less the motor) is worth? :drink:

Thanks, Speed

Re: 25 Aggressor Question

speed, i just happen to own a 92 aggressor , before i blew my motor i was getting 70mph max w/ a stock 454 mag my motor spun a rod bearing a few months back (454 mag) had it rebuilt, block and heads only had 150 hours on them , had the engine builder really build the motr up mainly for longevity , used a scat forged crank , which was balanced, new forged pistons , new oil pump, comp extreme cam & lifters and some other goodies , motor is good for about 460 ponies i also added revoultion exhaust for some added ponies and some weight saving also , $6,900.00 later i have a true 75 mph boat , i am turning a labbed 25 mirage plus prop now this is w/ my stock quadrajet carb and stock merc timing, i can put an 800 holley and bump the timing up to 10 and 38 and probably get another 2 or 3 out of her , don't want to sacrafice relabilty or gas milage or throw a whipple on her and see 85, i paid $24 k for it 3 years ago would let mine go for $21,000.00 I would say if the hull your looking at is in good cond it could be worth $12-$15gs depending on int etc.My boat is white,w/ red and black stripes added some checkered flag graphics to the back along w/ an alum swim platform which i got from sunsation.

Thanks for the info. Trimman,

I didn't have a chance to see the boat today, hope to do so next week. I'm also talking to a guy that has a Python but the Sunsations look to have a much better layout.

Do you have any pics of your boat?

Is it for sale?

Thanks again for the info.

Ive got a 95 Aggressor that I am getting ready to sell. It is only a scock 454 310 HP (could be 330, not sure) but I can run 62 all day and get 65 in the right conditions. Im sure it wouldnt take much to add some ponies and hit 70 for sure. Im looking to get $21,000 for mine but will intertain offers. Boat is in excellent condition all the way around and has 305 hrs on her. Mike.

trimman,
What kind of RPM are you pulling with your boat at 75 MPH using the 25 inch Mirage Plus?

According to the tach right around 5300rpm motor is good for about 5600 rpm according to the engine builder, the prop is labbed also if i advaced the timing up 2 bumps and richened the carb i think she could hit 77 , a buddy hasa 91 aggressor w/ an hp 500 carb in it and he has seen 80 on gps. I have to up my membership here so i can post some pics of her.

A 454 mag will put you right about 68 mph. It will do 75mph plus with about 600 hp. ( 25p 5200 rpm).

You need to come see it. :drink: :drink: :drink:

Thats insane, that motor belongs in a 288 sunny , not a 25, it's a 23'7" long boat w/ a 7' beam don't take alota horsepower to make that hull go fast ,just to keep it in the water! He must have 2' tabs on her!

He has 280S K-planes on it. Its sick fast, and scoots like a go-kart. It has never been openned up. It has seen 100 mph once though.

We have another friend with a 2003 32 Sunsation SINGLE 500EFI/Whipple who runs in the mid-upper 80s!! Ideal setup would be a similar 32' Sunsation single to slide that 540/M4 into one day.

You couldn't pay me enough to ride in his boat , i have a nother buddy who used to own a 92 25 also , he had a built 502 w/ a pro charger w/ intercooler pushing about 675 ponies his would do 85-86 talk about a ride he swears after you hit 80 it actually handles better !That 540 would work well in a single 32!

At higher speeds, its not really handling per say, but rather pitch and yaw. :D :D

He rarely EVER takes the boat over 65mph; seriously.

A 500hp or a 525hp in a 25 Agressor would be a nice combo. You would have speed and turn key reliability.

Scott, have not heard from you for awhile - have you put the boat away for the season? Jeff and I went out to Clinton yesterday - it ended up being a pretty nice day.

Two of those motors should run about 110MPH in a 32 Skater. Maybe next year you can give us a ride Scott. Good to see your still thinking about boats, haven't heard or seen you in a while.

Hi guys, I'm done with harvest and field work and have some free time now. The boat is winterized and put away, and now I can start thinking about next year. Me being in a cat next year is still in the air, Hills is a little nervous about the idea and I have sticker shock from the boats and insurance quotes!

Re: 25 Aggressor Question

Trimman,

I have the Aggressor that Sydwayz is talking about. It is actually a 540 with a M-4 Procharger. I have full hydraulic steering, 280 Kplanes, 2" shortie Imco Extreme 1.24 ratio drive spinning a Mercury Maximus 5 blade prop. When it came time to rebuild my 502, I decided to go 540 vs. 510. I went with the 1.24 gear ratio to spin a smaller diameter prop to eliminate some of the roll. The boat is set up to cruise effortlessly. I actually use less fuel than I used to since I can cruise with only the primaries of the carb open (I have my throttle marked where the secondaries open). I liken my Aggressor to my last Suzuki GSXR which was capable of doing in excess of 180 MPH. It accelerated like a bat out of hell and handled very nible. Do I use all of the throttle??? No... Is it nice knowing it is there??? Definately.

Agreed... This is a perfect combo for a single 32 Sunsation. Matter of fact, I had a deposit on a 32 single a few years back.
Had to put that on hold for a new house and a new baby.

I look forward to your replies

Ty

Re: 25 Aggressor Question

They are awesome boats, you either hate em or ya luv em, whish they were a tad wider , i had my 454 mag redone the right way w/ a little tweaking and carb /intake changes she could push 78-79 don't have hydro steering on her though, so that would be a must .she cruises nice at 60 , i just listed mine 4 sale on the sunsation website , plan on jumping into a 288 sunny or whateverelse catches my eye in the spring. What colors are your boat?

This is my second Aggressor. I noticed that you are on the sunsationboats.com forum as well. Here is a link with a picture of my current red, orange and yellow 2001. It is post number 2 and 3

http://www.sunsationboats.com/forums...hread.php?t=12

Here is a link of my purple, yellow and black '97 Aggressor with a HP 500. This paint scheme is my favorite. It is post 34.

You are right you either love the narrow beam or hate 'em. This is my second, so you know my answer.

Aggressor 25 11-28-2005 06:38 PM

Re: 25 Aggressor Question

Speedboatr,

The boats are nearly identical. In late 1997 the Aggressor went from a windshield to a fairing. I prefer the look of the fairing to the windshield; but it is just a preference. Sunsation actually started offering a windshild option on their 28s and 32s again in the last few years. It can be nice to get out of the wind boating early or late into the season. I can not tell the difference that the vortex step has from the non-vented bottom.

The 2001 that I bought was originally purchased by a good friend of mine. I actually went with him to our dealer when he ordered it. I decided to let my '97 go when that 2001 became available. I liked the fairing, updated gauages, throttle, bolsters and aluminum tube swim platform the 2001 offered. I looked at the cost of updating my '97 and it was an easy decision.

Trimman,
I have never been up for a rally. A friend who introduced me to Sunsation has been up for a few and I have seen the videos. It looks like a great time and I would love to make it to one in the future. I can understand the need for more room. My wife and I used to overnight on the Aggressors, but we recently purchased a lake house and don't stay out anymore. If we did more overnighting I may look to move up, but the 25 is fine for us and 2 small kids for now. We used to boat on the Potomac River by Washington DC and now spend most weekends at Smith Mountain Lake in Virginia. The waters are fairly calm at both. I do find that it helps to have Aggressors with 4-5 passengers when it gets rough. It keeps it from flying as much as you span from wake to wake.
