Speed from a 32
Could someone tell me what real speeds I could expect from a 32 with 496HO's?

Re: Speed from a 32
A friend of mine have a 32 SS......and he made 82-83 Mph all the time ...incroyable !!!!!!...with Ho

Re: Speed from a 32
84mph when it is light and trimmed. High 70's is no problem loaded. Great boat with that power. For the money it is hard to find a boat of this quality that performs like this with HO's.

Re: Speed from a 32
I've gotten 82 in my mine which is a 2005 non-SS. It's my understanding the SS is a couple clicks better. Normal load of fuel/pax and 78-80 consistent with stock Bravo-28's and K-planes.
Tried to get them to build me one (SS) but was told they weren't making a third 32 model. A year later "my" boat comes out. Sorta ticked me off a little. |
Re: Speed from a 32
I have hit 85 on GPS. Alone low fuel cool out salt water.

To give you a baseline comparison my 32 MCOB (non-SS)with T-6.2's has hit 73.4 GPS in 1-2 footers with 3 aboard and less than 10 gallons of fuel coming back from Key West. |

Re: Speed from a 32
We got there in 1/2 tank out of Hawk's Cay and ran back with my buddy's 36 Gladiator so we ran harder than we should have. He could hit low 90's and would let me catch up only to evaporate a minute later. We stopped boat 3 times to check fuel guage and radioed him to let him know he might be towing us the last few miles. Made it, but my 110 gallon tank took 108 gallons that day to fill! :D

Re: Speed from a 32
Went from Va. Beach to Kent Island across from Annapolis doing 3700 without stopping. Topped it off once I got there and it took 96 gallons. After the weekend I cruised at 3200 and topped it off with 88 gallons. Long enough legs for me.

how do you tell an ss from a dominator ? Regular dominator is a pad bottom boat. The one step only goes from the chine to the outside strake, so does not come into play much when running up on the pad. Looks sleeker in the water (IMO). SS will run a few mph faster than the dominator with the same power. To my knowledge nobody has ordered a dominator since the SS came out. |
I'm just now beginning to consider a sunsation 32.
Actually looking for a pre-owned. the MCOB looks nice. Regular dominator or SS. How do these handle? I'd be coming out of a 28 Nordic. |

Saw that. Very nice looking craft.
I don't think I'd be satisfied with 377's. |

I don't think I'd be satisfied with 377's. http://sunsationboats.com/articles/hotboat0304.pdf In a MCOB the 377's are the ideal motor. 496 HO boat will run 80 (7 MPH faster) but with the open bow the extra speed isn't warranted. |
In2Deep - I just sold my 2001 28' Nordic Heat and bought a Dominator SS. Like night and day.....I love my SS!

Thanks mama tryed....she definitely turns heads!

Thanks for the input, folks. Much appreciated.
The Hotboat write-up is telling. I'm liking this boat's layout and story. Has anyone Whippled one of these 377's? |
