There has never been any Sunsation built with a 700 merc set up since they are so new, and Merc is still working out the bugs. The first one will likely be an F4. I doubt you are going to see many 288 orders wanting to pay the upcharge for a 700 and NXR drive.

The fastest I've seen on the boards was Kanookster at 90 mph. He has/had a 509 pro charged, I think.

Now she runs about 82 with less boost. :D 509 6psi...and other stuff....
I heard someone out there is running 94 with a whipple but hes not on the forums.
As far as stock a 525 in a 2005+ hull with run close to 80 in perfect conditions but mid 70's consistant.

Its a 2002, no step. The 700 may be too much power to offer directly from the factory, thats a lot of power for that hull it it can get squirrly real easy. I gotta think mid 80's all day though.

I have seen plenty of guys running in the low to mid 80's with blower set ups.

Re: fastest 288

what kind of hp are they getting with there blower motors ? any idea?

Re: fastest 288

The ones I have seen have ranged from procharger set ups on early 496's and whippled 502's to mild 540 with 671 roots blower.

For the most part no, simply bolting on a blower will probably gain you 100-200hp depending on the boost unless you go really crazy. I think im around 650 but its never been on a dyno. The math seems to work right though, 650hp to get 82mph. more then that you really have to look at other options then a Bravo...

thanks for all the info guys just thinking about what top speeds a 288 mcob could "burst" too? i dont think it would be out of the question too think a properly set up 700 merc motor in the right drivers hands would be possible too hit 90 . any thoughts ?

You should call the factory to see if they would even be willing to put a 700 in a 288. To my knowledge, and I don't know for sure, but I don't think they have even put a 600 in it.

This past week-end ...we have the Radar Shootout at our lake .....and i made 79 Mph ...(79.3 GPS) with a stock 525 .....i can`t just imagine this thing run at 90 Mph   ...you need to have a perfect condition !!!!!
But i love this puppy .....maybe after more hour running (i have only 25 Hrs)...i be able to handle this kind of speed :D :D

Re: fastest 288

What drive are you looking at? I really think you would need 750-800hp to go 90. My boat ran 90.6 (before I owned it) and I believe it was close to 800hp with a bravo 1 at the time. The newer hull should be a little faster but a beefier drive will also take more HP...my estimate......85-86 with a 700. Remember it takes more HP the faster you go to get each MPH. If a 525 will run 80, they usually dyno at about 540 I believe, then at 20hp per mile an hour you would need about 740. I think you need more then 20hp per mph when you get up in the high 80's. Probably more like 30 per mph.
By the way it doesnt matter, mid 80's is smokin fast in a 288! :D
I think you should do it though... :evilb:
charlie111 check your PM box.

Re: fastest 288

going fast cost big $ i think the new merc combo with the tranny in it is more eficcient than a larger gear in a drive "b max" for in stance, current boat lost 4 mph going too b maxs but drives last now ! and reliability has its price also .i think that new merc combo is right on and i also think the new 288 hull will take a little more speed ,even if it is for short bursts! a good cruise # and a quick burst of speed is really what im lookin for. you guys are great thanks for all the help. thanks charlie m

I thought the old Firecraker ( 288 not MCOB) was into the 90's with a 800 Crockett motor and Bravo drive back about 1996 or 98. Ask Joe or Wayne they will remember it for sure, I think that was the first Mither T paint job if my memory is right

a 32 on a tandem trailer? I thought all were sold with a triple axle? I do know they have sold a few 32's with a single and they do handle very well. The ASD looks like a cool option

You will be fine after a few more hrs of seat time 25 hors, Also you will notice that she handles much better in 1-2 foot waters than she does on calm waters. Every 90 mph run I have ever made with my 288 handled much better in the rougher waters. On smooth waters I was still able to run those speeds, but I had to do some fancy driving to keep her stable :D :D
