Mark I was waiting for your response!:D Boat and I can handle SOTW but the time constraints will be the issue. Last FPC run to the Bahamas we were the 3rd boat to West End of the 12 that went in solid 4 footers (2nd photo).

Can the 32 MCOB not handle rough water? Why would there be hesitation to take it out into Lake Michigan? Only asking because I have considered an MCOB and boat almost exclusively in Lake Michigan.

I apologize for hijacking the thread but the previous posts have me thinking it's not a good boat choice for Lake Michigan.

Much more likely to take water in the boat on rough seas in the open bow vs. closed deck.

I was thinking the same as what K4M said :D - You may never stuff the nose. But I did a couple times on my dominator. It would have taken on lots of water if it had been a MCOB. Not sure it would have been a problem, it just would have taken on more water. I had a wall of 2 feet deep water role up across the nose and into the cockpit on one stuff - I just ducked and let everyone in the back seat feel the wash. Did not do any harm, it was 102 degrees out that day so the passengers, although surprised, kind of enjoyed the wash down. It just got the carpet in the cockpit soaked and turned the bilge pumps on for a few minutes.

You may want to talk to Jupiter, he probably can give you the best advice since he runs his MCOB in the ocean.

Boat will be fine, my remark was based on the fact that Smoke on the Water is a premier poker run event that a lot of big powerboats run (the ones that cost 500K+ and run 100+ MPH) and a 73 MPH mid cabin running in heavy traffic conditions( like SOTW) tends to make it rough and in any 32 that isn't much fun. Add to the fact I have never boated anywhere but the ICW and Atlantic Ocean makes SOTW a dicey event to start learning the local waters.
Mental said it best, if you stuff you will get wet. If you know the area then you know what to watch out for etc. and it usually isn't an issue.

I suspected that was the reason. There must be drain holes in the bow to direct water into the bilge if it were to come over the bow. I could see water getting into the cabin through the MCOB front door if it were open. According to Jupiter it doesn't seem to stay closed running in rough water. In any event you could run with the bow cover in place in rough conditions to prevent water entry. Thanks guys.
