And Does The Boat Have A Lot Of Flex ?

I won't know until mid July....Jammin' On The James Poker Run may introduce these types of conditions (although I hope not :))

I don't have an SS but I have an 04 32 MCOB Dominator. The boat flies level and can run in that type of water but since the non SS Dominator is a pad bottom it can come down hard on occaison. The last run to the Bahamas with FPC was solid 4 ft seas (group should have stayed home) and 12 boats left Port Everglades. We were the 3rd boat to West End of the 12. :D

The boat is solid, but a 32 is still a 32. At a majority of FPC runs we are the smallest sometimes the slowest of the group but we have finshed every run we started. The Sunsation team has got the best customer service in the industry. You could call Joe or Wayne any day of the week at 6 am and they will be the ones that pick up the phone. They routinely give out their cell#'s if you need help after hours.

No flex, flys extremely well-balanced, and i am "routinely" in 3-4 footers as a nice day down here on the southern Chesapeake, and mine is a 2005 non-SS hull. I have driven the 32 Innovator w/ T-500's for about 4 hours out here on the ocean/bay and it felt really solid while pushihg it really hard (SS is the combo of the Innovator hull & Dominator deck).

The boat likes that type of water.
It feels like a bigger boat out in the rough stuff

I don't know how they handle (cause mine is still on order). However, I would like to point out that they apparently switched the 32SS back to a pad bottom boat very recently. I'm still investigating what's going on with this change, but I must say I'm a bit disappointed that no-one mentioned this to me during ordering a few weeks back and that I'm now getting a different hull than I thought I was.

I have a call into Wayne and will let everyone know the outcome, but I must say I'm quite disappointed at this moment in time. A huge factor in my decision to buy a 32SS was the reputable, non-pad bottom hull and now something else is being delivered to us in a few weeks. :rolleyes:

I've never known Wayne to change anything unless it is an improvement.

Not to start any arguments, but haven't we all read over and over again that pad-bottoms land harder and sacrafice rough water ride to the straight v's? (just check a few posts up to see an example). Not that I don't trust someone like Joe, or Dave or Wayne to understand these things much better than I do, but how can it ride just as good as straight V given all the discussions and evidence to the contrary? We all know that hull design is a trade-off, a balance of opposing features and functions. It seems that a trade has recently been made on the 32SS hull.

I spoke to Wayne today. I'd like to add that he was extremely pleasant to talk to and I very much appreciate his time. This is one of the very reasons I selected Sunsation and I haven't been disappointed in the slightest in the attention to answering my questions and providing stellar customer support. Thanks also to Dave for the email response I received.

However, the biggest issue I have here is that I was never notified. I can honestly say that I selected this boat partly because of the non-pad bottom, and now it is gone. The most frustrating part of this to me is that I have nothing to compare the differences to. I will just have to take peoples word that it rides just as good as the last version I guess, even though no one besides people in the inner circle at Sunsation have any seat time in one of these new ones. I can no longer use other people's 32SS opinions (they aren't the same hull any more).

Oh well. I've put a lot of energy into researching and selecting the exact boat / options we want and this has really drained me. I just wonder why there aren't too many other manufactures of true offshore boats using pads if they aren't such a bad thing for ride quality.

Johhny - when do you understand this change to have taken place?

Did Wayne say why they chabged it?
