duke252 06-11-2007 12:59 PM

Probably 100 mph......Its got more than just 525s
Stand Off boxes, Mercury SpeedMaster Drives.

From the pics, the drives are just XR sportmasters with ITS. Looks very cool though!!!

93mph hitting rev limiters, so 95 should be pretty easily attainable.

Shore Thing 06-22-2007 08:30 AM

So whats different about this 32?

Today Sunsation Powerboats tested the first 32 SSR. This is a new model in the line-up for the company.

The boat was equipped with Mercury 525’s, the ITS system and short sport drives. Twin 32P 5 blade Maxima props were used in the test but hit the rev limiters so we are going to put 34’s on the boat.

Both the new SSR and the Dominator SS now have a short 10” keel pad and a new chine angle of 90 degrees to enhance the performance and attitude of the boat. The boat also has a custom interior package as well as many new standard features that are not on the SS.

Mitcher T has come up with some special paint options just for this new Model. Another new SSR feature designed in house for convenience and control is the trim tab buttons are in the throttle.

A total of 50 changes were made to create this new model that is already doing well in sales. For more information go to www.sunsationboats.com

I have a quick question, is the swim platform included on the length on those?

bunbuster 09-06-2007 06:53 PM

I Think all boats with the molded in swim platforms are included in the length of boat

That seems to be the case. I have a 2008 32SS with the SSR hull. It is 31'7" according to the website. Even after subtracting the swim platform, I'm pretty sure that I still have 30+ feet of hull. Owners of boats without molded swim platforms love to claim that our boats are 2+ feet smaller. This is simply not the case. It is more like 1 to 1.5 feet smaller for the platform. You have to remember that the top of the platform is bigger than the bottom. In other words, the top of the platform extends forward past the transom and into the engine compartment a bit (at least on the Sunsation it does). It may look like 2+ feet on the top, but it is only missing a little over a foot of hull on the bottom.

I think that the 32SS is very close to the 30' Outlaw as far as hull size goes.

I'm curious now, so I'll try to remember to measure it next time I'm over at storage.

I was out one day and 32 sunsation had pulled up and it looked awful small for a 32 compared to the 32 active thunder that was sitting next to it. I have noticed the new ss look bigger, atleast in pictures anyway. I like them much better. I am currently trying to sell my boat and move into the 30' range.

A 32 SS and 32 SSR are identical in size. A 32 Dominator and a 32 SS are identical in length and beam but the SS has a twin step hull and is much deeper (taller) from the chine up to the rubrail. This allowed for a deeper cockpit and cabin and an enclosed head in the SS. The decks are identical between a Dominator and SS. Yes, a 32 AT is a much larger boat than the 32 Dominator or 32 SS as the AT is 32' without a platform whereas the Sunsation is 31' 7" including the molded-in swim platform. You will find both the Dominator and SS quite capable offshore given their size and weight, with the SS being a slightly better rough water boat. Good luck with your move to a boat in the 30' range.
