Default Questions about early 28's...

What year did Sunsation first put steps in the hulls of the 28's? How do the "non-step" hulls run?
A bit more specific, a 2000 28 Intimidator, stepped or non-stepped? What will it run with hp 500? How do they handle?

2005 is the first year for the full, single-step hull. A 2000 is non-stepped, but will have the "Vortex Generator" on each side of the hull running from the chine to the first strake. Although from the side it appears to be a step, it is not.

If you want to go way back, my 1995 (the 6th one built) 288, which was called the Intimidator then, with a HP500 carb motor, ran 73.6 on GPS brand new. Still runs that now with a rebuild at 300 hours.

Thanks,
That actually is a bit faster than I had thought, in a non stepped hull. How do they handle in rougher water?
I really like the looks of them, there seems to be a few decent ones with HP's in them for sale right now.

They handle great, weight distribution and balance is excellent. You will have a pad bottom which helps generate the speeds they get.

Since you are in Ms, contact Jassman in Diamond Head and have him take you out on his 4300 NorTech - then you will have a feel for how the 28 rides....tell him Juicy sent you...

550 HP will stress that Bravo 1 drive. You will need to be gentle on it.

At the point you have to do something, an XR would work fine.
