what to expect from HP upgrades

Not givin any details out on the new motors but wondering what i can expect to see out of my setup with 560hp 550tq w/b1's (unsure of what prop ill need to run just yet)

93 dominator with 330's in there now..

Anyone have any experience?

SUNSATION 25 02-28-2008 05:50 PM

I have a friend with an older 32 500hp and he hits 80gps on a good day...my guess with an honest 550hp at the crank and the right props 83-85 is realistic.

waterboy222 02-28-2008 11:41 PM

got any pics of it?

I would make sure to upgrade your drives too otherwise you might have a lot of downtime with B1's.

Agree. XR's at a minimum.

Gary864 02-29-2008 10:15 AM

You need Hyd steering,it is a must over 70. Also Drive showers, and see about beefing up the drives. Contact Dominator Scott he can give you all the tricks to do on that hull. If he is not here he is on Sunsation's website and speedwake also. Depending how high you want to spin the motors you will also need props. You have 3 blade (unless someone changed them from wheh I had your boat) now I would think you will want 4 blades at least. You could also contact Joe or Wayne they may have other idels also.

He's on the Sunsation forums, his screen name is Agressor Tom...very knowledgeable and if he can't help contact Dominator Scott like Gary said.....

somewhere around 12mph gain. 28 to 30 bravo 4 blade nonlab depending on rpm would be my guess. what prop are you running now? how fast are you running now, high 60s?

waterboy222 03-02-2008 10:12 AM

yup. 68-69 any day 70.4 best ever (on fumes and just me in the boat).. ya, i usually pick scotts brain anytime i have any questions.. I think ill be ok with my bravos for awhile. they were just rebuilt before i got the boat.. that, and im pretty comfortable behind the sticks and babyin it.. XR's are definately out of the budget for a while. However, hydraulic steering sounds like a good idea!

You'll be fine with bravos and that HP. having twins to share the load pushing the boat helps alot.

Ran-Dom 32 03-06-2008 07:41 PM

my '96 w/330's was 66-67, repowered with 502MPI's with CMI exhaust, reproped with labbed 28 b1's & speed increased to 77-78 & a lot more fun to drive,

LMAO:evilb:....It has so much to do with driving habits versus HP. If the habits are real conservative, it will be fine. If not, those B1's will be smoked in no time. It has very little to do with twins.....

Probably going to pick up the boat early April. Probably bring it back to do an early launch at Clinton and do drive service, then take it to LOTO.

Should be interesting at the ramp getting that bad boy backed in. Good thing Boody won't be on the water yet. He'd really be pizzed being passed like he was standing still! :evilb:

risingsun 03-12-2008 04:41 PM

B1s can handle 650hp if you dont slam them.

I run a aggressor with 700hp and a bravo X .not XR. we also run a 32 fountain with 700hp on bravo's. the driver makes all the difference!!!:cool-smiley-011:

Maybe trailering if a customer can't get a slip.:D I am getting anxious to go boating. I was out there today trying to find an empty slip, just nice to see the lake. I will give you call if I make a March run.
