My buddies boat is a 2008 288 with 50 hours in better then new condition! All the bells and whistles plus a brand new 1500 dollar mooring cover that covers the hull sides.

The newly listed asking price will be mid 80's and he's hardly got a nibble at 89K. Is the market THAT bad or is his price THAT out of line?? I figured this thing would move quick.. :(

Any buyers looking he needs to move this thing and would apprciate anyone sending someone his way! Basically getting a brand new boat just broke in at a fraction of what new would be for a simular set-up!
Boat is located near Peoria IL if anyone wants to take a peek.

I haven't tested the waters myself, but the market is REALLY bad for boats right now. My dad had his '92 Scarab w/500hp's listed on ebay and the bid never even came close to what the boat is worth in my mind. Another guy that I boat with practically ended up taking a about a 5grand loss on his '05 Fountain just to get out from under the payment. That being said, if the right person comes along looking for that particular boat, the price won't matter.

Bad timing to be selling a boat. Listed out of Texas but resides in Peoria?

Yes, Broker is out of TX, owner and boat is near Peoria.

Given the dollar downfall maybe a guy should skip American classifieds and list them straight overseas.. :hitfan::

I wouldn't broker the boat. Take that 10% the broker would get and pass that along to prospective buyers in the form of a lower asking price. Another thing that may or may not come into play is selling such a new boat so soon. That can make some people leary. Any prospective buyers out there, I'm 40 minutes away from this boat and would be happy to birddog it for anyone.

Tough question.... I always figure 10% deduction the minute you sign the papers. I don't know the 288 market very well right now. It seems the 01-05's seem to be bringing 45-60k, so I would think an 08' should be able to bring over 80k.

I don't think whatever I just babbled was much help :(

I think mid 80's for a starting point is fair. Just a tough time to be selling a boat. Patience is the key right now. Someone will come along...it might just take more time than usual.

Beautiful boat, love to have one. However it is out of my price range.

I could afford the payment, but with gas going to $4 I couldn't afford to turn the key.
