05 and below haul 32 dominator?

What do you guys think of the 05 haul design compared to the 06 and above would you stay away from them or is it cosmetic only? Never tried an 06 and just a few runs on a 05...my main use: Rivers occasional ocean run but if I had to break it down it would be like this...40% River, 10% Atlantic Ocean and 50% hooked up...lol

Gas prices and all...

I have enjoyed 250 hours in my 99 dominator. I would do it again given the chance. The price to upgrade to the newer hull design isnt cheap. In my opinion both are great boats it depends on how much $ you want to spend.

I have been in all three and if you $$ to jump to the newer hull do so. By far the best riding one is the 06,07 hull before they put the pad on the 08's and up but it well worth the jump for the ride and comfort in the cabin with the extra foot of head room.

I have an 05 and I would definitely tell you, don't shy away from them. They run great, even in really nasty water it gives a smooth ride. If Fasthawk says the 06 and 07 are better, they must really be awesome. You can't go wrong with any of them.

There is only two hulls made for the 32', you have to be careful not to go by the year because they were over lapping hauls in the 05' and 06' years. I had the old style hull in 06'. You have to look for steps and free board. I think Captain Yarrr has the newer hull with the higher free board. Both boats ride great but the newer hull boat will have a slightly better ride and a higher top end also. I have been on both. Any questions please ask.

The older 32's had the larger pad area, the newer ones do not.

There are only two main hull designs but the newer hull has had a pad added in 2008 with the introduction of the SSR as mentioned earlier. It was supposed to be good for 1 mph on top but I can see where it may change the ride slightly. Mine has the pad but a friend just picked up a 2007 without the pad. I’ll need to take it for a ride soon.

Is it true that the old style hull will accelerate faster than the new style with comparable power?

sunsation96 06-05-2012 02:05 PM

Maybe, mine would plane faster with 6.2's than the new ones with BB's, not that you can use that as a selling item LOL

Where we notice the difference was in bigger water and the rollers the big cruisers make esp at higher speeds. The straight v hull seems more stable and cuts the water better. In my opionion the 1mph is not worth the stabilty that you give up but this is just 3 of are opionions.

Nope, mine is the older straight V. The extra head room is nice on the newer ones, but it was not worth the price premium at all.

The only true v hull was the orignal innovator hull in 04 which carried over into the newer stepped hull until late 07 and then went to the new stepped hull with a pad.

People tend to blame a pad for a rough ride when in fact, if landed properly, you should not even be able to tell the pad was added to the newer SS hull.

I'm fond of the older Dominator hull due to its stance in the water and, in experienced hands, its surprisingly good ride. That big old nose laying out in front of you makes it hard to not run the boat flat.

Plus it has a more agressive look. Looks fast just sitting there.

Pre SS models look more bad azz. Post SS models have more cuddy amenities. You want the sexy go fast look, or the sporty more family oriented SUV?. Ride depends on whose drivin'.

Friend of mine had 2001 single engine dominator. I loved everything about the boat, awesome looks, very very fast haul, handled the nasty chesapeake bay great and the engine package was turn key for the entire 9 years he had the boat. Still in my short list for my next Boat.

The newer Dominators ride awesome in the snot but I do like the aggressive stance of the older Dominators. Mine is a 94 and I still love the boat.

Riley0114 07-17-2012 06:09 PM

One of my good friends has one of the innovators which has the newer style hull and I can't say anything about the older dominators because I havnt been in one. but the innovator has one awesome hull under it which is what I believe the used for all the newer style boats and it has an awesome ride.

I swear you are going to me walts old boat, oh and I saw you on an old thread asking people about big power and people having drive issues with the big power singles. That 500efi, bravo x package was bullet proof. He didn't lose the drive till 2010 and it was from landing hard after jumping a wake.
