speed for 05 32ft w/ 6.2's
 

6.2 are light and put out 320hp each. Close to what my stock 454 in my old baja 330hp).
So I'm deciding between a 288 496 HO or a 32 w/ 6.2's and wondering which would be faster.
288 w/ 425 hp or a 32 ft w/ 640 total hp. Seems to me the 32 would go faster but that is just me guessing. would it top 70 in perfect conditions? Hoping one of you know.

How bout it? What say you?

I would think the 32 would be a tad faster, close to 70 and the 288 around 67.

I have a buddy with the 6.2's in his 32 and he does 64mph, I have the 8.2 in my 288 a see 70mph the 496 is probably similar to the 8.2 I would think 68mph. You'll get a better ride in the 32 though.

High 60s in the 32 and low 70 under the best possible conditions. You'll be glad you have twins and the extra hull

32/6.2 boat I had ran a 73.4 best on GPS coming back from Key West. I had a buddy with a 288/ HO boat and I could eek past him every time.

Ride yes. But 5hp is negligible comparing to the same hull. A 288 with 425hp is a 70mph boat

I have a 288 MCOB with the 496 HO in it. 2 People/half tank fuel, slight chop and 66.something is what I get on GPS. 24 bravo 4 blade prop. I like to think I have a 70 mph boat, but gps dont lie. From my research a 32 with 6.2's taps 70 on GPS. I run the Mississippi, and like the fuel economy of one engine and 28 feet seems great for sports and cruising. Never been in a 32, but I think you will love the Sunsation..Very Happy with mine!

Thanks guys for all the replies. I decided on the 288. It was 10k less, and rightfully so. On the test run I saw 63 on GPS, with 3 of us on the boat. We were on a lake and did not run it out ..Could have trimmed further and given it a bit to get up a little faster. But we were at 5k rpm. 4 blade prop.

No complaints at all. I love the way the boat rides, and understand the 32 could've been a better ride in the rough stuff. We do see whitecaps on the Ohio on occasion but usually it is nice smooth waters to cruise on.

I've never seen a sunny on this part of the Ohio, my 1st full weekend with her I pull up to the gas pumps to top off before putting in and damn if there is not a 32 MCOB dual 496's right beside me. LOL We looked over each others boats and had a good chat. The 32 was a 09 model. OMG that open bow was so much bigger than in my 288. But we all get what we can afford. I can afford to feed one engine much easier than I could two, plus the 288 was considerably cheaper. I'm surprised at how much bigger the 288 seems in comparison to my old 25ft baja. For our part of the river and the type of cruising we do the 288 seems plenty big for me. I don't feel I need a 32 ft boat ... I might change my mind one day but for now I'm a very happy camper. :D

How's the boat running is it still running good?

Yes, it is still running GREAT. I love this boat. :D Just off a 10 day boating vacation and had a ball. Weather cooperated so we got to boat every day. Now if only I could find a source for a manual. I'm guessing it is a 90 or 100 gallon gas tank but not sure. Had it down to just above 1/4 and took 70 gallons to fill it up. The power light that goes up like a power antenna is way kewl. Afraid of issues down the road with it though, as you have will all power antennas.

On occasion it does hesitate before going into reverse. Going forward the gears always go right away, in reverse it sometimes will take a long time before the gears kick in. Any ideas what might cause that or what it takes to fix?
