Laveycraft 29 and the B&H Water Rod 30 - both with 8-6 beams are almost the same size as the 32 Sunny (a lot of swim platform) and both of them will run 74 / 75 mph with a single 525 hp - Bravo XR drive. I know first hand, been in & driven both. GPS reading not dream on (Aerosmith) speedo meter.

The 32 is only 3 ft longer than a 288 and they are identical from the fairing to the transom. A 6.2 boat runs nice with 640 HP (a few more ponies in your case! :D) so if you had a 600+ HP single then the boat should run pretty similar.

I just mean around the docks. I know in a good breeze mine can be a handful. The twins are super helpful there. I am sure I'd have found myself in trouble with a single.

But WOT, I'm sure they run great!

Just wandering because I have a procharged 572 making a good 950 that I have in a 26 ft checkmate that I would love to use in something else. I know the only way to get my money out of it is to run it.

Captain YARRR 08-12-2014 12:32 PM

I'm sure that would do nicely!

They have only made single engine 32's in the non-stepped hull. No twin step 32 singles to my knowledge.

If this is the guy who runs out of occoquan, his boat is ridiculously fast, he ran me down in the high 70's and hung to 80ish. If this is the same guy, what does he have for power? I've never talked to him, but have seen the boat out running a lot this summer, sounds nasty too.

Ok. I need to check on that because I would want a new one

This one is the Pro-Charged 540.
(Owned by OSO member Aggressor 25; he has had several single Sunnys and posts on here occasionally.)
It's often on the Potomac and Occoquan, as well as SML.

This one is the Whippled 500EFI.
Emil owns a body shop in Manassas, and pretty much boats exclusively on the Occoquan & Potomac.

A new 32 Sunsation would probably not be ideal with a single because it is considerably larger/taller/deeper. There have been several 32' Sunsation models over the years: Dominator, Innovator, SSR/XRT.

All of the single Sunsation 32s are Dominators from back in the day, originally derived around F1 racing as previously mentioned.

Having a bow thruster would be a huge benefit.
