288 question

Looking to possibly move into a sunny, that said anyone that had or has a mid cabin open bow on a heritage tandem axle trailer know the full height? My garage door is only 7' high and I know the Sunny's have a lot more freeboard than Nordics, I need as close to perfect measurements as possible, my receiver is 21 3/4 to the top of the ball, appreciate any and all info

Steve

I have a 03 288 MCOB on the Heritage trailer mine is a windshield boat I have parked in my driveway a couple of times over the years and I don't believe it will fit under my 7' door but a bigger concern is the width the boat is wider than a standard single door. Sunsation lists the dry weight at 4250lbs and I would guess 1500 for the trailer plus 90 gallons of fuel your at 6000lbs roughly toss in anchor, coolers gear etc... for another couple hundred pounds. Mine just happens to be for sale see the link below, price is negotiable.

Lots of posts on how to get a boat into low doors. You can buy a really low drop hitch just for going in/out of the garage and gain 3-4 inches. You can dig out the driveway just so the rear tires of the truck drop as the windscreen goes under the door. If just for winter storage, you can let some air out of the tires briefly.

Also, different trailers have the boat sitting at different heights. Good that you are getting measurements off the specific boat you are looking for, but there are ways to vary it briefly.

Found a nice 32 Sunsation closed bow, I still like the 32 MCOB but the two that are currently for sale with 496 HO's are over my boat budget. Hopefully mine will move by March.

With all these 'won't fit...just barely' boats on trailers into a garage I think I'm gonna invent some trailer rollers that take place of leaf spring/axles.

Maybe just some 8-10" Diameter solid wheels will work better. Trailer will determine ultimate diamter allowable.

Hmmmm.
LOL.

Hope it all works out to those above !!!!
