32 dominator with smallblocks?

Does anyone no how the 32 runs with the 6.2 320 hp twins? We saw a 32 up at the poker run in the 1000 islands and love it .It had hp 500's with wipples stuffed in it.
Thanks Dave

Hey Dave, My guess is that a 32' with 6.2's will run close to 70 MPH. It would be a nice package, very economical. For the price it's a great package. The only down fall is it may hurt resale value with those engines. Everyone seems to want bigger power. I'm curiuos if they ever put a pair of 377 scorpians in a 32' thay would be interesting. Dave eitherway the 32' is a great boat with any power. Definately worth looking into. I love mine:D

Check,

32 Dominator w/6.2's run 68 - 72, very close to what the old 7.4's ran, a pretty nice package. We've done a few of them locally and the folks love it, most people who go for a run in the 6.2 Dominators cant believe it runs that strong with small blocks.

Thanks for the replys guys. The reason i was thinking smallblocks was it looks like the bigblocks would be tough to work on and price.Dave,is 68-72 gps or speedo numbers?I was also thinking with a set of whipples it would be a good package.
Thanks
Dave

Hey Check 981,, Thats what I'm Running and We love it!! Like you say . plenty of room for Maintance,,
Mine has Air and Heat, Fresh Water Supply, Microwave, T.V., Pump out Head, Fridge and still does 70 on the Speed-o, with 1/4 tank of Fuel, and 2 People.. I run 23 Pitch 3 Blades..
Let me Know if you have any other Question's..

Check,

I've seen 68 plus on GPS and over 70 on GPS, alot depends on options, fule load, passenger load, conditions and driver. Those 6.2's have out gunned and out accelerated the old 7.4's every time we tested. It is becoming a popular package, we have two on order currently with that setup, both are heading to Arizona. Our current orders have us sold out through February and the fall shows have not even started yet, if your looking for a spring delivery - I would think about getting in touch with your dealer pretty quick. As far as resale, there are not many boats with stronger performance and demand that hold their value as well as if not better than its competition. If I can help with anything else, please feel free to call anytime.

Okay, what are the consistent GPS numbers for the 32 with the 377 Scorpions, 496mags, and the 496HO's??? 80+ is cool but not necessarily needed where and what I run in normally...Is that 3 foot-itis time of year yet?..... :D

DaveSunsation 09-12-2002 06:06 AM

Jeff,

Never built one, they are an expensive package and to date, everyone I've talked to opts to go with mags (big block) for the same price over small blocks.

ccarloss 09-12-2002 09:03 AM

I'd say it would probably run about 74 with the 377 Scorpions.

I believe the Scorpions make 350HP at the prop. It's a nice motor but for the premium they charge I would go with the big blocks.

Reckless32 09-15-2002 11:46 AM

Good point about the warranty and money comparison. My heart is set on a pair of 496HO's when the time comes (soon) to step up a notch. So with that being said, what are the numbers for a fairly loaded Dominator (vacu-flush, a/c, tv/vcr) with the HO's? I'm assuming, based on what I've seen on this board, that it would be a consistent 83-85 on gps. Would that be correct?...

KN 09-16-2002 10:23 AM

Hey Rick, I have a fully loaded 32' Dominator with 496 Mag HO's. I just got a GPS, only used it once. 95 degrees, 50 % humidity, low fuel, no passengers. 77.4 MPH @ 4900 RPM. Everyone else I talk to seems to be running faster:( I think 85 MPH is pretty optimistic, I'd like to see that.

Reckless32 09-17-2002 08:26 PM

Kirk, 85 could possibly be a stretch but I've been hearing on here and the Sunsation site, that 82/3 is a solid number with the HO's. I've seen 87/8 numbers (gps) listed for the HP500 package which makes sense for only 90 more ponies. 77.4 is barely more than the basic 496mag package. I mean look what the 6.2 numbers are above for comparison. Dave what are the common numbers for a twin HO setup? If it's under 80 it would be kinda bizarre considering the other numbers listed for smaller packages...
