Any Super Charged Sunsation???
Hello Felow Sunsation Owners. I was just wondering if theres a few super charged 288's out there, and what are they seeing for speed and at what boost???.
|
I run a 1995 288, originally equipped with the 500HP carb motor 74 mph, put on a B&M 250 PowerCharger with 5 lbs boost now runs 82mph. Really woke up the boat. Have over 150 hrs with the blower and no problems other than broken drives. Finally stepped up to a Teague built XR.

Wow! it's tough on the drives huh? My 2002 weighs in at 4500 lbs. I didn't think it would be that hard on them? My Stingray has 200+ procharger hrs, but the drive held up good. All I did was add a billet marine drive cap and shower. What usually gave out on your drives? The Procharger is more forgiving on the hole shot, maybe it won't be as hard.
Thanks |
I raced a full season in a supercharged 288 with a stock Bravo I drive with the exception of a drive shower and experienced no outdrive failures, That same drive is still in service to this day and that was 4 yrs ago.

Thanks for the input Lee. Which supercharger where you running?

Non intercooled B&M, and it fits under the stock hatch using a HP500 (carb) flame arrestor with room to spare.

Hot Boat Mag. did an article on one with a blower a few years back. It said firecracker on the side. I'll look in my archives and see if I can find the issue.

I remember that article from Hot Boat. Last month I happen to talk to the sales guy that sold that boat, he said Tyler Crockett never did get the set up right on that boat. Last I heard the motor is no longer even in it.

Hey Lee. What were your boost numbers, Prop And pitch, and finally your WOT speed?
Thanks. |

Hi Guy"s , sorry to bud in on your convo, but I'm running the same set up as Lee!!~ 2001 27 convincor, 500hp w/ B&M250 7lb, boost , bravo drive, no failures other than sand in my low water pickup. All fit under hatch and runs superb!!! I have approx 30hrs on setup. 60mph at 4000 rpm, 83 at 5200. running with 27 labbed hydromotive. I believe theres room left. If your easy on the throttle out of the hole , and reentry, the bravo will hold up fine. I really like the 28 sunsation, and I think this would be a great setup for the money!!!!!! I also painted the blower to match the motor and looks awesome!!! Mark
