Front Cleat / Bow Nav Light Access?

My bow navigation light died this past weekend...how the heck do I get the access panel off at the front of the bed in the cabin? I pulled the single screw out, but it didn't want to budge, and I didn't want to force it and break something. Is there a trick to it?

Thanks.

You should be able to gain access from the outside of the boat. There should be two screws to remove and then the light should pop off. It's probably 4200 or siliconed down though so may take a bit of manipulation

You can't access it through the cabin. Remove screws on the light and carefully pull it out. It has sealant on it so it might take a little effort to remove it. There should be enough slack in the wires to make a new connection. Make sure you use shrinkable connectors on it and seal the new light up really good. The part # for the nav light is #0227000CHR Perko.

This ^

I did mine a few years ago. Was a pretty easy job but not a ton of wire to work with and had to dig some out of the silicone.

Thanks guys. I pulled the screws off, and the light came right off the boat, but holy man are those wires siliconed in there, lol.

Was able to disassemble the light and found that the light wasn't burned out, there was just some corrosion on the contacts preventing it from working. Cleaned it up, and waiting for the new LED bulb to get here.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

I just had to figure this out myself last week. Was scared to death I was going to yank the wires and not have enough to fix it. I kept working it slowly until I figured out it was just all the sealant holding it tight.

Anyone know how to get to the front cleat? Mine is loose and I can't figure out how to get to it so i can tighten it up.

What's the trick? Mine is a little loose and I was going to try and figure it out in the spring.

If you have a closed bow without the anchor locker, you will have to take down the 3 panels in the v-birth. Take the long, vinyl panels down, then the front vinyl "diamond" panel. Then you can access the cleat bolts. If you have an anchor locker, it's a little tricky. You have to access the bolts through there.

Thank you Jeff! Mine is a closed bow with no anchor locker. I was guessing this would be how to access it but now i'll put it on my list since I know how to tackle it.
