2008 Sunsation 288 Step Hull
Summer is over.........but
I was wondering how much are you trimming the outdrive with 288 step Hull, seems like i do not need as much as a standard v-hull. I have k-plans and leaving them level with Hull. Thanks. |
Hello,
I have 05 288. There is very little to no difference if I use trim. I have just started playing with my trim tabs level with the hull. Lou |
Seems like you do not need to trim the drive with the step hull.

Part of tne theory behind stepped hulls is that you need little or no trim. All the power is directed at pushing the boat forward rather than upward and forward. Can’t speak for the Sunsation but my old Donzi 27 ZR ran best with just a touch of trim up. Anything more just increased revs and prop slip, but not speed. Same setting for the tabs, except for getting on the plane or to balance the boat in a beam sea.

Also, what prop is everyone running with the 2008 and up 496 HO step hull??
Heard grinding the diffuser ring off helps. Running a 26 pitch Bravo 1 and it wants to run fast all the time, tried a 24 Bravo and it does not need to run as fast as the 26 all the time, was better overall. |
