288 in rough water

I am considering a 288 and boat in Lake Michigan out of Milwaukee. How good is this boat in the 3 to 4ft crap. I mean the steep, short period slop we deal with here. Not the ocean swells with 10 seconds in between peaks. I don't need to run full out in the rough, but a comfortable 25-30mph would be nice. Please, no smoke blowing if you know what I mean. Any input would be appreciated.

I don't know about Lake Michigan, But Lake Champlain can throw some big chop, and I've been out in 4+ footers having a ball at 45+ MPH. not once did it go BANG!!!. It actually took awhile to get use to such a smooth ride in that big chop. I was always expecting a terrible BANG, but it never happend. Just a great fun time. We ended up putting 90 miles on the GPS in the stuff, we where having that much fun.:D :D
I did notice it rode better with a full tank of gas.

I run a 28 down here In Ocean off Atlantic city Nj and I love my boat. Was thinking of selling it though for a 32

My turf is the southern Chesapeake Bay where the Atlantic meets the bay with it's converging rivers. Meaning, confused waters in a big way. As with all boats , it has it's sweet spot and once you find it you'll be impressing others with larger rigs. Don't trust the fluff? Get out and drive one in the waters you describe...OBTW, there's also bang for the buck....

EX20, Just wanted to let you know that Tinus Marine is a Sunsation dealer now. My freind is buying a 288 from them but has never ridden in one either. They are a nicely finished boat.

509SC,

They look like a pretty decent boat. I saw the two down at the State Fair Park boat show. I crawled around on them for quite awhile. Maybe I will stop in at Tinus. Thanks.

I repeat...."bang for the buck"...;)
