32 Dominator top speed?

What would be the expected top speed on a 2002 32 Dominator with 100%stock 454 mags?

On average my guess would be between 75-78 MPH. I'm sure some are faster, but you could count on those numbers. The beautiful thing about the Sunsations is not so much the top speed but the acceleration and cruising speed numbers. Very few boats can compare when looking at those numbers, Good luck, I don't think you can go wrong with a Sunsation.

P.S. 2002 32' Dominator stock 496 Mag HO's

CAP071 03-07-2004 09:45 AM

Ok I said about 75-76 So I'm dead on.

DENNYB 03-07-2004 11:39 AM

Yes, thats about right but the rush is how quick you get there in a Sunsation over the others because of the hull bottom design.

CAP071 03-07-2004 11:41 AM

It was a late night bar Discussion he was trying to say NO WAY 75 Mph

I said with labbed props Only and 100% stock motors 80 might be possible he said NO WAY again.

DENNYB 03-07-2004 11:47 AM

Capo 71 It is a fact what we quote the speeds per engine choices in our models. and it is what it is on GPS.:)

2001 w/stock 454MPI Mag 75GPS, flat lake, 2 people, full tank of fuel, some luggage, running stock 26P at 5000rpm.

Gizmo 03-08-2004 08:36 AM

I don't know how quick my 32 is (no gps), but the throttle response from cruise speed to WOT is impressive.

Reckless32 03-11-2004 11:40 AM

Jay you don't know how quick it is?!!! How can you not know that? You're taking it way too easy man...:D

With stock props I'm expecting 80-82 out of mine. But if I can go 79-80 solid with a bag of gas and a pax or two, that would be very satisfying. The REAL bonus will be doing it in a stable fashion...

Bayley 03-15-2004 09:24 AM

With bone stock 454 MAG's, I got 78.1 mph on the GPS with labbed 28's in my 2000 Sunsation.

Reckless32 03-15-2004 05:37 PM

Hey KN, you need to loosen up on the trim man....:D

KN 03-15-2004 10:08 PM

Rick congratulations on your new boat. Post some pictures when Mitch is done with it.
As far as loosening up the trim, thats all there is. I actually trim it up into the trailer setting just a tiney bit:eek: And if I go to far the bow gets way up there and its like I through out a parachute.
I've got a set of labbed finished 30's now and with about 10-15 gallons of fuel, just myself in the boat and about 40 degree's I ran 83 MPH. I know those may be Ideal conditions, but it will run 80 pretty much all the time.
Good luck with your new boat, keep us posted.

With those 305's they are putting in, not a chance!:p :D

Reckless32 03-25-2004 10:43 PM

That's 80 mph 305's....;)

mlitefan 03-26-2004 01:17 PM

Ya know, the odd thing is those 305's looked just like 496's...hmmmm. :D

DENNYB 03-26-2004 02:05 PM

I"ll have what he"s having. :) :) ::D

Seems as if low birth weight plays a major role in the acceleration as well.

Reckless32 03-28-2004 09:00 PM

Don't know about the "birth" weight, but it's mainly the weight on the "sticks" that count...:D

Ran-Dom 32 03-29-2004 09:14 AM

My '96 Dominator with a pair of fresh 502MPI's ran a best of 78.something GPS @ 5000rpm with 28P Bravo 1 (that was on Saturday 60 degree temp)

Reckless32 03-31-2004 10:41 AM

Spoke with Mark at Shoreline Marine last week and he was domo'ing his new 32 mid-cabin with 496HO's and he got 80mph gps on Smith Mountain Lake which is a few hundred feet above sea level. Also the mid-cabin carries 3-400 extra pounds due to the extra fiberglass structure up front...

mlitefan 04-06-2004 10:00 PM

82 no problem Rick. That is my guess. My second guess is you will find out just as humanly possible.

Cap, you going for a 32 this year?

CAP071 04-06-2004 10:03 PM

I'm trying. I found 1 I like , but the Broker won't get off her azz to send me more pictures she wants me to head out to ILL to look it over  Found a few sweet 28' s though makes me wonder with our short and wet summers which one to really buy

mlitefan 04-06-2004 10:08 PM

Well...the more I look at the 32, the more I like it. Few years off for me to step up though.

I am predicting a long summer, perfect for boating!

Did a few upgrades to the 288 this year. You know I added the headers late last year so this year I am screwing with the prop and added a red Spargi and purchased all the stuff for a new stereo. Should get installed in a week or so.

The 32 is one sweet ride for sure.
