St Cloud 2006
Check the SBI/APBA web. site the information for St Coud is posted. WOW what a great Town to race at, and some of the greatest fans in Offshore Racing. For a small town the fans are great and always come out in huge numbers. This year will be the best ever with all the work they have done at the Marina, and no race last year they are ready.... :D :D :D

Re: St Cloud 2006
Always a great way to start the season. Fantastic city that really shows up for a boat race. I raced my first race there in 1993, and won it 3 times since.

Not sure where they are going to put the rides (midway) Heard they didn't put in water or electric outside of the marina? But the place looks great. If I'm out tomorrow I'll try and get a pix. |
Re: St Cloud 2006
Here is an article that I found
ST. CLOUD, Feb. 8, 2006 (Knight Ridder/Tribune Business News delivered by Newstex) -- The final touches are almost completed, and St. Cloud residents will be able to see the outdoor facilities of Lakefront Park on March 1. The grand opening and ribbon-cutting of the more than $9 million of improvements to the park are scheduled for March 25 during Symphony by the Lake, which will feature the Orlando Philharmonic. "It is something everyone in St. Cloud can be proud of," City Council member Mike Wetzel said. "It's going to provide more services. We're trying to work with the Rotary Club for canoes and sailboats for sailing lessons for kids and canoes for children who like to fish." He said some fishing guides have shown an interest in leading groups on the lake as well as a kayak-rental outfit. The focal point of the park on East Lake Tohopekaliga is a 143-slip marina, three boat ramps and a two-story marina building, which will house a Crabby Bill's Seafood restaurant, a convenience store and a ballroom. Competition for the boat slips already is fierce with more than 200 names on a waiting list. Those who already had rented slips at Lakeside Park are getting preference. Slips cost $90 per month, which includes power and water. The restaurant will feature a screened deck area overlooking the marina. A 3,200-square-foot ballroom, which can be divided, presents a panoramic view of the marina basin and lake. To the east of the marina building is an interactive splash pad and playground. Dan Tarrell Memorial Point, which was badly damaged by the 2004 hurricanes, has been rebuilt and enlarged. A fishing pier with a gazebo and a performing-arts pavilion lie to the west of the marina. St. Cloud residents will be able to rent park facilities for $50 an hour for a pavilion shelter or $2,500 a day for the ballroom. County residents will have to dig a little deeper to use the park, paying $100 an hour for the pavilions and up to $3,500 a day for the ballroom. |

Re: St Cloud 2006
Looks like a great time. We'll be there. Just wondering about the beach though. Thought I saw some very large Aligators last time I was there.
|
Re: St Cloud 2006
Bill, you didn't see any alligators. Those two fuc$in' nutty red neck brothers James and Robert from Undecided took all the alligators outta St. Cloud last summer and put them on the grill in Sarasota. Must be some other kinda prehistoric beast!
|
Re: St Cloud 2006
Hey Augie, you probably are right. We must be doing something wrong though. I was just watching ESPN and saw our race course with a bunch of Bass fisherman trying to catch the most fish. The first prize? $500,000.
What's wrong with this picture. There was Mercury in all their glory sponsoring the event along with Citgo and a couple other Marine companies. I wonder if the brothers are out there. Looks like that's where all the money is. |
Re: St Cloud 2006
Not the same lake. They are about 10 miles west in West lake Toho.
|
Re: St Cloud 2006
500,000 to go fishing. Yeah Bill, something really wrong with that picture! Maybe the Undecided Brothers could come to the race site and shoot $hit, that should bring a big sponsor with some $$$. How's the house coming Bill?
