Predator was on the course today, but Reliable (1) rolled at turn one, guys are o.k.....boat not so good.....it was still at the cranes being pumped when I left.....and scream machine looked like it had some substantial damage while leaving on the trailer...a few spin-outs in that famous turn in the harbor. I don't have results......stay tuned to the website

The predator crew had the boat on the course today and running well. When we left the pits the Predator boat was shined up and ready for Duval street tonight.

Predator is the best show on Duval st. again this year. Go to the Sloppy Joe live webcam and you can see the crowd....it's better than Fantasy Fest...........

thedonz 11-11-2007 09:10 PM

geez, what were we, chopped liver??????....not even an honorable mention, Pat?

Pat D 11-12-2007 12:18 PM

I'm sorry.....you are never chopped liver...you ALL looked great on Duval and it was the best night of the week.

When Predator flipped, it was on my watch in race control for testing on thursday .... it was a scarey sound and sight but we got them on the med boat in minutes and the boat recovered shortly after.
I was just so glad to see the boat "upright" and people dancing on it the next day. PD

So true Pat ...

I just saw the photos at the Predator's website ( predator41.com ). A couple of questions:

Why didn't the boat sink?

And why didn't the engines come out?

I ask this because there was a thread a few months ago about a Cigarette that flipped in a Texas lake. When the (sunken) boat was hauled onto shore, both engines were gone.

flat rate,

I really don't know why the engines would come out, but they did in this Cigarette roll.....

(I'm going to try and find the original thread on this accident, the engines may have been removed after the boat was recovered. But I'm thinking they (the engines) are still at the bottom of the lake.)

DriverofDonzi 11-28-2007 11:39 AM

Hmmm....Interesting.....

TeamTaboo 11-28-2007 12:24 PM

Look at the engine mounts , they were removed after it was recovered

The Predator boat was upside down....and I had TowBoatUS there in minutes.......they flipped it and towed it into the cranes.
Is that answer too simple or am I missing something here?

towhead 11-28-2007 10:43 PM

OK OK,

I'm new to this racing thing. I did find the thread on the Cigarette flip and the engines were removed after it was recovered. And I now understand if a boat is righted quickly, it doesn't sink. So, I learned something. AND, being this is an anonymous forum, nobody will know the identity of this dumbass. That's what I'm talking about.

Pat D 11-29-2007 08:52 AM

sorry, I apologize if I sounded sarcastic....I honestly didn't know if I wasn't understanding your question.
During our races, we rarely have boats sink, because we have tow boats close at hand for these situations. If a boat is damaged and is taking on water quickly, the towboats tie up and keep it moving until it is at the cranes.
Keep asking questions.......maybe someone more knowledgable than myself will jump in here ........

If you keep it moving it will most likely NOT sink as evidenced by this infamous picture.
