Damn Ryan, your the $hit!!! and I thought I knew Offshore......

After reading that list, I want a freaking #6 drive! I don't even have a boat and I want a #6 drive. I could mount it on the wall like a stuffed animal head. Damn, I want a NUMBER SIX drive. I'd settle for a 10 year old 24' Pantera with a #6 drive, or would the drive sink it?
On a serious note: How was a 525 allowed to race against at 500 in the F1 class? PS. (#6 baby!!) |

Superboat BTM Marine 12 is a 2005 MTI with 750 Sterling. The boat epoxy hull with a carbon deck.
Taboo in the Superboat Vee Unlimited class started out as a Super Vee, was moved up to Unlimited in June of 07, still working out the kinks. All epoxy hull and deck, Mercury 525's with Whipple chargers making about 900hp per side with Arneson drives. Boat rigged was 7400lbs., looking for 140mph. Watch the videos of the Wed. and Fri. starts to see how it accelerates. On Taboo, it looks like the epoxy lay-up, or simply a lighter lay-up enabled by using epoxy, has saved about a thousand pounds. Is that your take? I did not think that Fountain had ovens for cooking epoxy. How did they kick off the epoxy? |

That might be one of the few typoes Ryan made. I think Al was running with a 500EFI also but if it was a 525 then I will cherish my victory even more:drink: Trent |
Is a 525 not legal in F1? I am not sure I thought Al's boat did. I even raced it once with Lance in Daytona, to 3rd out of 12 F1 class boats.
Trent you ran great in the Keys! Did you see the video of Still Got It and Al running into eachother? |
Who loves this sport more than Ryan?

Yes, Al's boat is and always has been a runner, I was honestly scared out of my wits leading up to the races due to his boat being such a great runner in the ruff and my boat being a notorious calm water boat, but as you saw the offshore gods shined down on me by making it lay down some. Thanks, but all credit has to go to O'Connor for keeping it straight and with Chris, Rick, and Maz's setup; Haggin and Scotty B behind us, I had the easy part, throttle down. I havent seen the video yet, but I am just glad Al and Pete are ok and I cant wait to race them again, I definitly have to stay on my toes. Trent |
Crash you are right they do not have ovens. The hull and deck have to stay in the mold extra time and sometimes there still can be some trouble. Had to paint the boat 2 times because of the imprint showing through, You are right on the numbers on weight about 1,100lbs. saved.

Are any of the boats pre-preg carbon or glass epoxy, post cured in an oven?
What kind of cores in the bottoms, sides, decks? |
Aqua Mania 46' Skater, former Budweiser boat, has Arneson's, not BPM.
