Super Boat Family,
Mr. Rickey has been in the hospital for over a week. He has had a heart attack along with renal failure, and abdominal bleeding. Mr. Rickey has received 14 pints already; the family asked the racers to give blood in Mr. Rickey’s name. As of yesterday, he is on dialysis. He has been very depressed over the last year after he retired, he thought of the racers as friends, not just boat racers. The outcome at this time in not known, your prayers and cards or notes would be much appreciated. He is in ICU and requests no flowers at this time. The hospital information is: Orange Coast Memorial Medical Center, Mr. Rickey DeMontrond, CCU West – Room 283, 9920 Talbert Avenue, Fountain Valley, CA 92708. Mr. Rickey’s home address is: 8962 Bainford Drive, Huntington Beach, CA 92646, Sharon’s e-mail address is: [email protected]. If we hear of any news on his condition we will forward it on. |
Rickey.......it has not been the same without you around the pits and we're praying for your recovery.
I even miss your constant teasing and shenanigans. Your the best. Pat and Dick p.s.......to all racers and crews that know him................You have no idea how much he loved you all. He has thrived for years on your lives and race stories and he really needs to hear from you now. PLEASE send him a card ..... Thanks, Pat |
He's probably snapped a million pictures of offshore boats and the racers who ran them. Published thousands of Vapor Trails Magazines over the many years he gave his loyal service to the sport he loved so much. And then this year, he was no longer there. Nothing lasts forever, but in Mr. Rickeys case we just always expected him to be there. Things just don't seem the same without the stacks of Vapor Trails on the tables, the playful ribs and humor he so often displayed, and especially hearing his camera clicking away at the awards ceremonies. We all pray for his recovery and hope to someday soon see his presence once again at the races. Mr. Rickey we miss you........ Stan
