NY Update
 

This is to inform all the SBIP/APBA Offshore racers that the New York race scheduled for September 7, 2008 is on as scheduled on the Hudson River.

I met with the Coast Guard and Liberty State Park this morning; everything is in place with support from all the agencies required.

If there is any race teams that has not secured their lodging for this race, the Sheraton Newark Airport still has some rooms available. The room block has been released, however you can call the hotel direct at 973-390-5500 and ask for IN-HOUSE, refer to Super Boat as a code to book your rooms. If you are directed to an outside reservation, call back and then ask for Sales, remember that they close at 5pm and are not open on the weekends.

Parties for the event:
Friday night from 7pm – 9 pm at the Sheraton (128 Frontage Road) – hosted by Aqua Mania Race Team
Sunday awards – at the race site – hosted by Peter Meyer, Hard Rock Offshore Race Team (Instigator).

In all due respect,this is a direct result of the state of sport right now.The bottom line is there are not enough race teams to support three sanctioning bodies.This nonsense has been going on for far too long.Why would anyone want to tow all that distance and spend alot of money to race themselves?I just dont get it.Everyone involved in our sport knows what needs to be done...someone please make it happen.

IMHO I See SBI as a "Florida" race org with a large percentage of racers living down south so to even have 10 boats travel 15hrs north with gas prices the way they are now is pretty admirable.

The Florida boats could have turned right 2 hours earlier and been at the point pleasant race.Dave Branch jumped from the sinking ship and actually has competition,no more handout wins.The Sbi racers should ask themselves if they want to race,or do they want to buy trophies.If more sbi racers came to Opa,Carbonell would have no choice but to make a deal with Haggin and there would still be florida races.We are not playing with go-carts,don't tell us gas prices have anything to do with it.

This is true, but you cant always blame the "racers", maybe take a long hard look at the Organization. (SBI) But yes you are correct in some ways.

Branch jumped ship to race with OSS the first time because I guess like you say he thought SBI was a sinking ship and came back. I guess he thought that might of been a quicker sinking ship. Lets see how long it takes this time to come back......HUmmmmmmmmm
Think you might see him in KW (SBI) but you are probable right I don't think he will run with a sinking ship so maybe we wont see him there. ::))))

Branch is a racer,doesn't want to show up to collect a flag.He wants to earn one.Sure he will race Key West,if that is where Opa has their worlds.He is going where the competition is,not to get some fluff win and a thanx for stoppin by.

sinking ship or not . they bring raceing to nc so i can see it . i would love to be able to travel to all the races but i can . at least sbi brings them close enough to see a race . not taking anything away from smitty or auge they work there ass off to get what opa has got . i jest wish they could come back to nc and race like they use to . the best time was the 2nd fountain race apba sbi and then the jersey boys , all in one place .:ernaehrung004::ernaehrung004::ernaehrung004:,. i prey one day it will be that way agin .. robbie rogers

I wasnt bashing just replied to on the Chips Neg. comments you know me better then that and no one has tried harder then me to make things happen ask Ron Polli we have talked numerous time and worked togther and try and make something happen.

It has been a couple of years (7)since I saw you in NC. I was there in 2006 with the platinum vee but I did not see you there. I think that I am going to miss it this year because of Bay Fest in San Diego is on at the same weekend. I have 5 boats running there that I know of so far.

We should be at Key West for the Worlds atleast that is what the plan is so far. Are you going?

Do not give up on being a race fan. You can still pray to get these guys back together but you might have to sacrifice some chickens or something to change things shrink some ego's.

You and I have always been on the some page, a I agree with you .
If you read this thread from the start it wasnt me being neg... For some reason some people have to jump in sand boxes that you usually dont post it and stir the pot. They take a positive post and post something that has nothing to do with the post. Dont have a clue they say they want to make things better and just stir and post sh$$t .
I dont see them getting on the phone and calling and trying to do something positive, i guess its easier to post neg. on here.

Hey Wardy I have been there and done that,watching 11 boats at a race is like watching paint dry,BORING.This sport does not have enough people to have so many orgs.We need to be all together or out of it all together,Period.You talk about SBI,Thats OK but for some of us it is not all peaches and cream,some of us have not been treated like we should have but that is between JC and us.UNITE THE SPORT or it will remaine as it is,I do not have the money or it would be done already and the ones with the money are unfortunatly self serving and do not care enough to fix the problems.SBI,OSS,OPA,POPBRA Same racing different mind set.Since 1988 I am at a loss,SAME SHIOT DIFFERENT YEAR.:mad:
