P1 and P2 Input

Would any of the P2/1 class boat like to see the amount of laps increase.
Example Miami P Class is 71/2 laps approx. 48 miles
Would u rather race 101/2 (same as stock boats) approx. 68 miles.

Also any input or interests in anyone racing weight/horse power?? I have spoke to 3/4 boat that might be interetsed .

We are also looking at raise the speed bracet in P2, after talking to a few of the teams it looks like we will move it a few MPH.

Speed Limits

With the rules of OPA maybe moving class 2 to a max of 100 mph. Keeping the speed at 102 would sound like a good idea if you want to keep it less expensive for teams to run both organizations. It would solve the problem of everyone having to prop for a close speed limit for those that would run both organizations. I know when we ran 105 all year last year, to come to the worlds and have to go to 102, it became a challange to find the right props to compete in different conditions. I would think it would be better to try to stay close for all organizations in speed limits and encourage all boats to compete against each other for costs sake. Just my thoughts as we try to decide where we are going to run in 2009.

Charlie,
Thats what r are talking about now we also agree 105 might be a better # for the P2 class or possible 108 to try and help teams from braking out.
Thanks for you input we r trying to decide as a class looks like 5-6 P2 this yr.

Speed limits

Last year I would have said 105 was the number. This year it might be good to stay at 102. The reason I think this is to keep the speed limits close for all organizations. I am pretty sure OPA is going to set the limit at 100 this year. "IF" they would stay with the 105 then I think your number would be good to move to 105. Maybe you should call Smitty at OPA and Ron at OSS to see wht they are planning and come close to that. That way it is not so expensive to buy props for each speed limit.
Just my thoughts,
Charlie

Based on the old prop calc formula( pitchXRPM'sX.01/gear ratio/12=Top Speed) and minus 7 was used to figure avg speed b4 the advent of GPS usage for class placement. SBI and OSS are matched up. The only difference at the moment is OPA being 3 mph faster than SBI.

Frank not for nothing, if your going to change the rules for your class, then make them uniform across the board and raise all of the bracket speeds up 3 mph. I mean honestly, its not like the boats arent set up to run at least 10-30 mph more than each bracket dictates.

The changes we are discussing is among the racers in P2 not sure what the other classes want. If they get together as a class and talk to SBI I'm sure they can also make changes that work for them as a class.

I'll give Smitty a call and see what his plans are for "09" for P2.
