Nick,
Keep in mind, this is in the SBI forum. People that live in glass houses on the OPA side came in here and started bashing. Not one SBI loyalist has gone over to the OPA forum and pointed out the average race boat attendance on the OPA side is down this year vs years of the past.(Actually your father pointed it out indirectly) Regardless of how much the 700 class got paid(its posted on the SBI web site in black and white where you can look it up and not have to play guessing games like up... well you know) For that matter what was the payout in Solomons last year? Point is for every tit there is a tat and it accomplishes absolutely nothing. I have said it time and time again that I commend your father for being able to put together what he has and I had a blast and look forward to it again in the future, but I still wonder how all the volunteers get their reimbursements in a timely manner, how the air fair, the overages of hotel room costs come from, rental cars, technical enforcement equipment, etc but OPA is still in business assuming these costs so hats off to your father. Without any sponsorship for the organization, I bow to him on how he is pulling it off without entry fees, etc. Remember OPA does affect my family directly(at this very moment) and my loyalties are to TnT first and I race where my sponsors tell me to run. At least what I was told to my face by your father and JC, they have both supported my approach as it aint right or wrong, it works for me and my team(business).
Bottom line, get all your guys together and make sure everything is perfect on the OPA side of the fence before they come over and bash the SBI side. Yes the boat count was horrendous in MC, however the fans got a quality show, not 11 guys in one class in reality racing against themselves and a computer(hey I did it, proud of my accomplishments doing it, but facts are facts) I assure you that the SBI side wont come over and bash on OPA, because they know it is childish and have better things to do with their time. We all missed a hell of an opportunity in NYC 2011 for our sport to come together and its a shame cause no one could answer the phone and/or call others to find out the facts and not the lies they were told....
Best to you on another successful race season!!
Trent
