Was just a simple question, the SVL teams up north have been doing it for years now and has worked out pretty fair. After all is said and done splitting the purse 3 ways isn’t going to actually going to cover anyone’s cost to race but splitting the purse evenly is some incentive for teams to show up? We don’t all have brand new boats with unlimited budgets to run up front every race. BTW I loved watching your boat run when you were racing! Any chance your coming back?

Getting the thread back on track looks like Cocoa should have a pretty good turnout a lot of the teams are getting ready and say they'll be ready in time

Thank You Frank, I think you're right, looks like there should be a good turn out for Super V at Cocoa!

Although I won't be ready, I plan on seeing everyone there as a spectator! I expect you will be there too?

Has anyone heard from Britt or Charlie McCarthy?

As far as the SBI rule book, and my understanding, the only modifications allowed to the 525efi is a reprogrammed ECU with the revlimiter raised to 5800 rpm. Precision in Louisiana told me that they can reflash the ECU to raise the rev limiter and make the program more aggressive to gain between 50-75HP. Most 525efi's from mercury were dynoing at 540-560hp. That would bring a strong motor up to approx. 625hp. I have not done this yet, but when I was looking at racing both organizations, I had researched the option of having 2 ECU's, one for OPA and One for SBI.

If I have been misinformed on this, someone please let me know!

Whats the chances of showing up for Coco with our stock 525's with the turned up ecu and being close to being competitive?

Do you want the OPA guy's answer or the SBI guy's answer LOL. Maybe someone with some real data that has dyno info on a 525 with a hot box actually puts out compared to the same motor stock. Does whipple have this info?

I can't answer that question because never dyno a motor with JUST the boX at 5800, all the motors we looked at were at 509 and 9:.0.1 .
But I will tell u Cocoa is not a flat water race, and with it being rough that is always a great equalizer I don't think big horsepower is going to win wont make a difference in the rough so everyone has a chance.
