Bob Bull

Kudos to Bob Bull for going to Biloxi to race. To me, this shows a commitment to "further develop and grow offshore racing".

I am curious - Will the leadership of other offshore racing organizations show the same commitment to the sport and race some APBA races?

This is an honest and reasonable question for the Board Members of OSS. Please don't turn this thread into a pissing contest-

Phantom 1,
I agree with you and I hope that it will open some doors so that maybe we can get everyone on the same page, very professional on Bobs part, way to go.

Sure.....why not
Jerry g was at St Cloud

It does cost $$ to register equipment in
each Santioning Body, so most racers
pick one and stick with it.

;)

Anyone know why Bob didn't race in Biloxi? He was there, he tested, but didn't race.

The funny thing is that Bob's SCL did really well against the CRC boat in St. Cloud. I suspect that Bob may have been able to win the Biloxi race!

Do you want the official reason ?

Or do you want the politically correct answer !

Or do you want the Truth !!

ScottB 04-29-2004 04:03 PM

How about all three

Lobsterboy, the only thing you're going to hear from Bob is the truth, regardless of the effects thereof. Please call him directly at 800-382-3150 ext. 300. I asked him the question on Tuesday and he told me the following: After testing on Saturday, Mitch and Bob overlaid their depth chart on their GPS backtrack. This as a result of the unsettling effects of the loss of a Driver on Friday. Due to their personal concerns, they chose to withdraw.

There is no blame to be placed on anyone, this was a personal choice. I respect their decision.

As to another post in this area: Is there anyone who competed, and placed in St. Cloud (The first race under the new ownership of APBA Offshore) that did not receive their prize money or checkered flag? I didn't think so.

Man o man, when will the BS stop and each racer just race wherever they like? Or shall we just continue to destroy the sport from within???

Steve !

I knew that !I spoke to Bob on Saturday , prior to the race and expressed my concerns ,but understood and respect his decision whether he raced or not!

And by the way there was no BS intended on my part!

SteveDavid 04-29-2004 05:40 PM

Marc (Lobsterboy)

Thanks buddy, your's wasn't the BS part :) Hey by the way, how'd you get such cute kids? Where you out racing and maybe your, nah,...... take care Marc, I've always appreciated your wit and forthright approach.

Steve

A true test of a persons character is how they react when times are tough. Bob has shown time and time again that despite the crap he has put up with, some of clearly legally actionable, he is taking the high road for the betterment of the sport. Some people on the forums should follow his lead........

ScottB 04-29-2004 07:11 PM

Frank, I am not ready, hopefully Marathon than Sarasota, but with the way things look, I will be kicking off in Sarasota in July. Too many B-Days and Weddings to attend to in the next months. I am also saving my $ a little because I plan on running NY and Pt Pleasant so I am really in no rush

Ron P 04-29-2004 09:09 PM

I missed talking to Bob in Biloxi. Sorry if I was the BS in question. I was in the chopper all day and then my flight left at 6pm so I didn't get to talk to anyone after the race. I really wanted to meet Bob, I guess that will have to wait until Marathon.

God knows this is a dangerous sport. If he didn't like something, he's completely within his right to withdraw, regardless of the reason. From the air I could see the boat was still wrapped up on the trailer.

Frankly I thought he showed a ton of class showing up and I'd hope to see OSS boats attend some APBA events.

I'd really like to see some jointly sanctioned events. Bob definitly made the first move and it was a good one.

I believe this may be the BS.

Follow Bob's and Steve's lead race where you want, have fun and be safe doing it. No need to be an ass about it.

I have learned to expect very little...........but the spotlight is on and it is bright.

If the OSS is really dedicated to "further development and growth of offshore powerboat racing in North America" then the board members (racers) would answer my (and your) question.

Offshore fans and racers.........you deserve an honest answer.

Ryan Beckley 04-30-2004 09:19 AM

Hey Mike maybe that means NO?

Sure, Klaatu.

As a card carrying member of Hedrick Motorsports (or so you say ...) you should have the inside track on the team's plans.

Hey Mr Duck, what happened to all the nice color on the sides of your boat from last year? It looked a little stark in Biloxi. Or is that stork.

Come to think of it, someone still owes me "a case of your favorite beer or a bottle of your preferred liquor or wine [delivered] to your pit area as a "peace offering". "

The offering never arrived. We were banking on it.

The withdrawal symptoms were serious.

I know. Sometimes, Alzheimers can have quite beneficial effects.

By the way: Congratulations to the new job. A conductor at the Delaware & Ohio Railroad probably has great benefits.

If it was a railroad.........it would be Directors and Officers Railroad..........and yes the insurance is excellent.....any "professional" organization would have it.:eureka:

Bertel,
Somehow you seem to have turned a very straight forward and sincere question into a "tit for tat" elusive banter. I think Mike asked an honest question with honest and sincere intentions.
As the most outspoken of the board of directors of the oss group, or sanction body, or whatever you guys are, why not just give an honest and sincere answer as opposed to all the bob n weave?

TYPHOON 05-01-2004 07:44 AM

Goro Dirty Duck will be there and they are board members! I dont want to answer for Peconic.
