I guess I started the question...
Dave M. had to modify his hatch for the new 496.
It looks like it fit in Tim's boat though.
Looking Great!
Good Luck with Her Tim... :drink:

The wait is finally over and I picked up the boat last night.

What fun pulling a boat through NY City Friday rush hour traffic.

Ahhh, but it looks good.

The boat sounds real good, not so loud that I am being noticed by the wrong people, but enough bark so that you know I'm there.

Re: New Superboater !!!!

After a week of pure fun with the boat, I am pleased. Other than a broken gas gauge the boat is working well.

As for the numbers. After much prop testing I was able to pull 73 (GPS) out of her with two people in the boat.

I ordered a new prop today to get the RPM where it belongs. I'll let you know the results.

T- island,
Looks great going across the water. I guess I'll have to order a new one myself if I can't talk Pat out of his.
PS Love the Rat Fink!!
I tried to send a pic of my rat fink and the file is too large

26p Bravo I is what I have on there now. Not enough prop. I ran a 27 last week (Mirage +), still not enough prop. No mid range, good top end.

The lab finish boys tell me the 28 is the answer.

Your numbers sound right on with 375 HP. You may be able to squeeze another 2 MPH out of her. What prop are you using?

Boat looks good! Speed sounds good. Another happy Superboater.

Re: New Superboater !!!!

My boat runs 75mph spinning a stock 28p Bravo I.
502MPI spinning 4800rpm...
It sounds like those new 496s make a little more power than the old 454s and 502s.
Good Luck!
She looks Great... :drink:

Pat, where do you cruise rpm wise, and what speeds?

Superbabi 06-27-2005 01:35 PM

Re: New Superboater !!!!

Tim glad all is going well for you with your new 24'. Your speeds are impressive.

Storm, It all depends on the water conditions...
Anywhere between 3000rpm (about 45mph) and 4000rpm (about 60mph).
If you run with T-Mone, 4800rpm no matter what...

Hey Pat,
When we going over to Claudios again? We should get together and head over soon. I just wrote out a check to the state for my noise violation looks like GGB mufflers are the way I am going to go. Storm I am at 3000 Rpm running at around 50 mph with the 5 blade. Tim real nice boat best of luck with it.

How come JC didn't give you the correct prop when it left the shop? Is the prop you are given the one that HE likes?

Well, you would need to ask JC that one. But I think you are right.

Oh by the way, good thing he did. I still do not have the 28. The one that Merc sent was the "wrong prop".

Still waiting on the replacement.
